Screen Recording: Microphone AND System Audio?

Post by nunixnunix04 »

Hi, this is my first time on the Corel Forums. Tell me if I'm doing anything wrong :)

I make gaming Youtube videos, and recently bought a new computer and needed a new recording software. So I started looking into Video Studio. I am currently using the trial, but will really soon get the full version. So I was gonna record and noticed you can change what audio will be recorded. Cool! So I enabled both of them, but it doesn't work. If I enable System Audio, microphone audio will be disabled, and vice-versa. Is there any way I can record my game AND my voice without recording the my voice afterwards (I wanna record it live)? I quickly tried to record two video at the same time, each recording having a different audio, but it just recorded one. I don't wanna have to buy $37 Fraps or some other "just-for-recording" software.

Again, thanks, and can Corel can update it so it is gamer-friendly?

PS: Do you also know why you can only record one audio system?

Hi
and welcome to the forums

As far as I know it’s a Windows issue in that you can only select one input to record,
you cannot mix channels whatever program you use.

There was a similar post Re: Audio Source(s) in VideoStudio Pro X5

Here Brian suggested using a sound mixer to connect devices.

Post Updated:-

I did a google and found some info on the Audacity site regarding Multi channel Recording, FAQ’s make interesting reading, but still may not do what you want.

What you want to do can be done with Corel VSP X6 but it requires you to change some of your Audio settings to make it work. Also, note that VSP X6 would not be the preferred method for game capture, other devoted software like Fraps, Bandicam, etc. are much better. VSP X6 should be used in post to make edits to the captured file.

Audio settings to record PC sounds and mic at same time ( Win 7/8 ) for use with VSP X6:
1)Control Panel -> Sound
2)Change System Sounds -> Recording -> Right click area and Show Disabled Devices -> Enable Stereo Mix
3)Stereo Mix ( Set as Default Device )
4)Left click on Microphone to highlight it and go to Properties -> Listen -> find "Listen to this device", check it.
5)Apply, OK.

List of game recorder software:

Example of multiple sound recording using software. ( Bandicam )

Hope this helps.
