I am a beginner with PSP and would like to get some hints on the following two tasks:
- When I have two .JPG files, how can I form a PSPX3 picture with the contents of the two files arranged side-by-side which I can then store as a single .JPG file (this is the kind of picture I want to show at a presentation)
- When I have one .JPG file, how can I construct a PSPX3 picture that consists of the contents of this file (say, in the left half) plus a free space of the same size right adjacent to the loaded picture where I can add some text items?
Maybe even a suitable hint to where I find the steps to perform these tasks in the user manual (and how they are called in PSP terminology) would be a first step to find a solution (you need not copy the user manual!).
Thanks in advance.

Re: PSPX3: Making one JPG from two
You want to change the canvas size.
1) Open up both images inside of PSP.
2) Select the first image
3) From the menu select Image -> Canvas Size
4) The canvas size dialog will pop up in it you will see a section showing you the original size of the image. We will want to double the width but leave the height the same.
5) In the new Dimensions section set Width to twice the size of the original, and set the height to match the original.
6) Under the "Placement" section you'll see a series of 9 buttons. These let you place the original image anywhere on the new canvas. Go ahead and select the middle left button. This will position the original image at the beginning of the canvas and center it vertically.
7) Hit "OK"
8) Go to your second image.
9) From the menu select Edit -> Copy
10) Go back to your first image
11) From the menu select Edit -> Paste as New Layer
12) Grab the Pick tool (the white arrow) the new layer will be surrounded by a box.
13) On the tool options palette you'll see an option for "Position X:" This is how far to the right the image is located along the X axis. Enter in the original width of the first image and hit "Tab."
14) The second image will now be positioned right next to the original.
