Update versions x5

Post by brucefl »

Hi,
I am pretty sure I have the most updated version.
How do you check if you have all the service packs?
My x5 version is 15.2.0.10 ?
Thanks Bruce

The second number of the version number indicates the latest service pack installed.

yours shows that you have service pack 2 installed so your version of X5 is completely up to date.

Corel seems to have made it very difficult (at least for me) to find where to look for the current version I have installed and also how to update to a newer version. They do not follow the standards for Windows' programs by having a "About" tab within the software's Main Menu (at the far right side), which normally includes such info.

Where can I find both of these?:
  • -- My current installed version
-- An update, if I need one
Thanks!

Up in the very top right corner of the X5 screen, to the left of the usual X etc buttons, there is an orange circle of dots with a downward pointing arrow. If you click on that, the Corel Guide screen appears. And in the top right of that screen, if you click on the double gear icon, you will get About and Check for Updates.

Thanks for replying so quickly!

I finally managed to find what I was looking for, with your help. Corel (itself) is worthless. They offer only 1 incomplete update for each version they sell, and never update it after that, regardless of errors, etc. Pitiful.

EDITED:
This forum behaves weirdly. I tried twice to attach a jpg image, but each time it failed to add it to the message.

Hi

You have two options to insert an image to the post.
1 / using the Image Tags—require the image to be uploaded to your server/your sharing site.
2 / use the Attachment Option to the bottom of the screen

I would recommend the second option.
As far as I know there is no limit on the pixel dimensions, just the file size.
Re-save the Jpeg Image to use a higher compression, medium or low should reduce the file size.
image size 1680 x 1050 x 543 Kb
image size 1680 x 1050 x 543 Kb
Hi Ken
We have always thought the limit was 256 Kb but I thought I would try uploading a larger image
The attached image is a screen shot of my PC, saved to highest quality Jpeg at 543Kb
Seems as though the limit has been increased??????

Larger still??
image size 3000 x 1875 x 1,102Kb
image size 3000 x 1875 x 1,102Kb

I once raised a similar question about size of attachments, noting that I thought I had loaded one much larger than 256 KB too. But I think it might have been Brian who pointed out that as Site Admin, we can override this limit. I am going to load a large image file and see what happens. This one with Hero 3 is 505 KB and seems to be OK. The flower one is 858 KB. I also tried to load a 3.7 MB one, but after uploading, I got the message it was "invalid". Anyway, unless the theory about us Site Admin having more leeway is correct, then it seems the limit is indeed higher.

BTW, your screen grab appears to be over 1 MB...

Hi Ken

I ran a few uploads as a standard member and the file limit appears to be 500Kb

and then received the following error.......

The image must be at least 0 pixels wide, 0 pixels high and at most 950 pixels wide and 800 pixels high. The submitted image is 1680 pixels wide and 1050 pixels high.

Seems that admin do have the ability to attach larger images

Thanks, guys! I really appreciate the information and the examples which help explain things so good. I will try again when I'm able to spend some time; not feeling too well today, so it's difficult to focus.

Both of you are ALWAYS so helpful! I appreciate that very much.

Just a side-note:
I did look at the properties of my images and I saw that they were below the maximum requirement. Ken, you mentioned that mine was over 1MB. I'm wondering if the sum of the two (in the same post) caused that, or was one of the images 1MB by itself? I'll redo them, even though they probably aren't even necessary to attach. I just thought they'd be more explicit.
