Hi,
I have been using VS X5 to create DVDs and ISOs from MPEG2 clips that are 30-60 minutes in length, so I end up with one clip per DVD. Now I'm in the process of taking approx. 60 MPEG2 clips, which were originally VHS and VHS-C movies of my kids at various events, and creating 60 minute DVDs and/or ISOs. The MPEG2 clips range in length from 2 to 20 min. When creating the DVDs/ISOs, I want to include the who, where, and when information prior to the video clip. My current thought is to create a timeline in the following format: Title1, Clip1, Title2, Clip2, etc. I would add chapter markers at the start of each title. Once I have approx. 60 minutes on a timeline I would create menus and DVDs/ISOs.
Trevor has suggested I create a movie file from each MPEG2 that includes content info and use these movie files when creating the DVD/ISO. I'm looking for possible options that others may have used, and if there may be problems with the method I was planning to use. I'm using VS X5 Pro, and I can upgrade to VS X6 Ultimate, if it has features that would help. Thanks in advance for your input.
Gary

Re: Looking for advice creating DVDs/ISOs from home videos
I do exactly what Trevor has suggested and in fact will be doing exactly that over the next few days with the Christmas plays from my local school.
For each video clip I have I will put a title and other information at the beginning and render out a new video for each class then when I go into the Create disc module I will put each video into the timeline there individually so that when I create the DVD it will have a menu page showing a thumbnail for each video - much like a chapter except that when it finishes playing it returns to the main menu - unlike chapters which continue to play all chapters to the end ,
Why are you intent on using chapters with their various quirks
typically one of the school DVD menus will look like this

Re: Looking for advice creating DVDs/ISOs from home videos
Brian,
Thanks for your input and example. Last night I reviewed the tutorials on sharing videos and creating DVDs in the book I used to learn VS and found what Trevor and you do. I haven't used VS in 8 months, and the majority of the book and I what I had done in the past was to create one movie. I forgot the book used the movie and other video files to show how to create DVDs/ISOs.
I didn't mean to give the impression that I was intent on using chapters. I think it was something I found in a book or on the web.
Thanks again for your help.
