PSP X4 Not Performing As Corel Intended

Post by Muriel »

Hi..

Not sure how do describe this issue..

PSP tube files display in the folder as the PSP logo instead of the image itself. I used to correct this by opening it in PSPX4, clicking SAVE AS, then before saving it I hit the F6 key. A window warned me that there was another file by that name, and did I wish to overwrite it. I clicked on 'Yes', and BINGO! The PSP logo was gone and the image displayed.

I am driving Windows 8.1. This worked until I installed PSP12, then it abruptly stopped. I uninstalled PSP12, but the stage was set. No matter what I do, this technique no longer works. Is there some setting I am missing?

Hi Muriel,
I'm not sure what you mean by the PSP logo. If your Picture tubes are within the PSP/X4/ Picture Tubes folder than they will work effectively in PSP.
Unless I'm completely misunderstanding you.

You refer to Windows 8.1 and PSPX2, but initially, speak about X4. Are you comparing both programmes to work on Win 8.1?

Hi Muriel,
Your profile still says you are using Vista, perhaps needs updating.
"PSP tube files display in the folder as the PSP logo instead of the image itself." Are you here referring to the Windows 8 folder or a folder viewed in manage mode or when opening a folder in PSP .
I think there was anothe thread somewhere where someone was complaining that windows folder thumbnails did not show the picture but only a logo.
I am seeing the psp Thumbs in Windows Xp folders and from memory also on Windows 7 folders. May be a Windows 8 search required.

Good Evening..

Oh Goodness! I realize this is an old thread, but the issue is still relevant. So, here goes!

I bought myself a new computer for Christmas, so of course I am now driving Windows 8.1! And yes, an upgrade was way overdue and very much in order!

Once I found some of the third party plugins no longer worked in Version X4, I hiked myself off to the nearest Future Shop and bought myself the latest and greatest version! Now there are two versions on my computer, so of course I managed to resolve the plugin issue with both of them!

So now I am not referring particularly to tubes, but to any pspimage file.. whether it is a single image with a transparency, or a layered project, saved as a .pspimage file to keep the layers and transparency intact. Seems png and jpg files display as thumbnails, while he pspimage files display as the icon from the respective version used to create it. (X4 or X6)

I have wasted far too much time on this, but it will continue to annoy me until I get it resolved.

Hi Muriel,
I presume you are meaning the icons in a normal windows folder under windows explorer in earlier version, not sur if it is the same in windows 8.

I think this is a problem with Windows 8 rather than PSP. Under windows XP I compared the thumbnails of 4 styles of image and had this.
Image

The thumbs show in XP for jpg, png , and psp files, but not for a psd file under CS2.
