Disable Audio Preview: Disables audio preview on the computer while capturing DV.
If the audio sounds choppy, there may be a problem with previewing audio on your computer during DV capture. This does not affect the audio capture quality. If this happens, click Disable Audio Preview to mute the audio while capturing
This choppy audio problem is what I am having.

Provided you are capturing from a digital source, ( you need to be connected via a Firewire / I-link) VS should recognise the source.
In my case the camcorder Canon MSDV is shown in the source window.
The ‘Disable Audio Preview button’ is shown below the ‘capture video and capture image icons.
When I switch to another capture method other than via Firewire the audio preview is removed.
Are you connected via firewire?
