Black squares

Post by jonh »

Hi. I'm having trouble with Aftershot pro version 1.2.0.7,
Every time I convert from RAW to jpeg the converted photo contains random black squares, from 1 up to 5, all in different places.
I've just tried converting to .Tiff and still the black squares.
Can you please help, Thank you
John Lane.

If you have OpenCL active, try turning it off.

If not, please post the XMP.

Hi. OpenCL is off
What is the XMP? This happens on all photos. I've tried uninstall and reinstall.

I have Windows 8.1 64bit.

The XMP file sits next to your image file, that is where AS stores its settings.
(unless you use the catalog, then you need to explicitly enable writing of the XMP).

Are you using any plugins?

No plugins at all. I've just completely uninstalled with Revo so no left over settings. Restarted and reinstalled using the newest version, V1.2.0.7. And still getting these squares. I think it must be a conflict with my graphics card or another program. I'm surprised that this isn't a more common problem if it is the graphics card.
I should have tested before buying it but, unfortunately, I assumed it would be fine and run along with PSP X6.

Graphics Card issues are an OpenCL thing.
Generated JPGs are not at all affected by the GPU if OpenCL is not enabled.

I'm going to format and reinstall everything, I'll install Aftershot straight after Windows and try it after every other program install. I'll let you know what prog is doing the damage. Thank you for your help so far AFX.

Update:-
It's my camera that's causing the problem apparently, so I just have to wait for the fix from Sony/Corel. I hope it's soon. My RAW files are building up.

Dear Mr Lane,

Thank you for uploading the file.

We have already escalated problems with the Sony series A 57, 67 and A77. Obviously, Sony used for these models a different codec that causes incompatibility with the normal Sony codecs.
Our development team is looking into the issue and tries to solve the problem as soon as possible.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions.

Regards,
Simone

I've just installed AfterShot Pro 2 Trial, given it a good long test. (batch convert 100's of Sony Raw files to Jpeg) and not one black square! Less than .5 of a second each for 16MB files.
Very impressive. Whatever was happening in the last version must have been fixed/changed.

Thank you Corel.
