Softwear crashes all the time, especially with avchd files
My computer and programs are up to date.
Its really frastrating, I had videostudio 2 before, less issues.
Also when I try to use albom fx it crashes

Just to be correct, it is in fact X6 -- which is Corel's way of saying version 16 i.e Latin X for 10 plus 6. The actual version 6 came out before I started video editing over 10 years ago with version 7...!

Personally, I'm afraid I can't offer much by way of help. If you do a search for "The program has encountered an unspecified error", you'll find quite a few returns, with various people getting that message in differing circumstances. Some find answers, others do not. But there are a lot of other users who have no trouble at all and never see that message, including with AVCHD files.

Hopefully, though, someone else might be able to offer you a solution...

Well, unless someone here can offer a solution, there are really on two options. The first is to pay Corel for help -- which none of us like doing. The other is to post your problem on Corel's Facebook page. A number of users here have done so and got pretty quick (and free!!) replies from Corel. Perhaps Corel doesn't want the embarrassment of complaints on such a public forum as Facebook, so answers complaints quickly to get them out of the way... As a footnote, just to be clear, though we use the Corel servers, none of us here is a Corel employee. Corel execs seldom visit here. I would double check you have the latest and correct graphics drivers, directx and also the right codec for the avchd file you are using, plus other files.

Did this version ever work correctly?
If so, what has changed since it did?
Possibly a windows update, so do cause problems especially if they try to update your drivers etc!!!

You say crashes all the time, is this when importing files, putting them on the timeline, or just at totally random times, so on one day you can import the file, start editing it and then it crashes, another day it might crash when trying to import the exact same file?

Give us as much info as possible on these crashes.

What other files does it do it with?
What files work fine? If any!!

Have you tried uninstalling the programme, using the corel cleaner, restarting pc and then reinstalled?

What other video/audio related programmes have you got installed?
When were these installed in relation to your installation of VS and did problems start after this point?

Have you installed codec packs?

Did this version ever work correctly?

No. At first I purchesed from the net, I could work moothly with mpeg and mp4 (HD I havnt tryed)
But every time I tryed to use the album fx, it crashed, so I returned it and bought he box version, here in Israel, But then it got worse.
with peg and mp4 I can hardly work, it gets stuckd and when ut dosnt, it is so slow.
Hd make it crash.
I can import the files, but when I try to edit, it crashes.

K lite codec pack

Did you install the K-Lite codec pack for any particular reason? It is known to often cause conflicts and crashes. But I would have to add that it is unlikely to cause the other types of problem you are experiencing.

If you look at my computer specifications under my photo, you will see I too have an i7, though less powerful than yours and with less RAM. Yet I don't have any of the problems you do. And I don't have K-Lite either. In the past, I have used it, but have never istalled the whole pack. If I want a particular codec, I download just that from the pack.

Corel at one time provided a file to uninstall the program, “Clean-up Utility”
I do not think they provide one for X6 but do give some manual uninstall details here.

It is difficult to identify why your program should simply fail with the unspecified error.

1 / go to Windows Updates and also check for any optional updates, I had a problem with a Graphics driver on a new laptop so why look at an update?

2 / Quicktime has caused problems in the past, installing an earlier version has helped some users, 7.5.5 seemed to work well.
However I do not think QT too much of a problem nowadays, but maybe worth trying 7.5.5.

smart proxy was disabled.
I enabled it.
Its not crushing for now, but still not smooth.
I'll try also uninstell K lite.
