Transitions Video Studio X5

Post by alfons »

Recently I have a very strange problem.
Video Studio X5 doesn't keep my choosen transition when I choose one from configuration/preferences/Edit.
I choose crossfade and when I look again at the settings it's back to random.
This doesn't happend with X4.
Difficult to explain because I have the programme in Spanish and I'm translating this into English for you.
Any suggestions?
Thanks again.

Hi Alfons

Transitions, yes that is happening to me.
I know it did work correctly at some time, don’t know what has changed to cause that.
I will see if I can find a cause????

I have uninstalled X5 and reinstalled it.
Still the same.
Doesn't allow to keep choosen transitions as default.
Hope you can find the problem.
Many thanks.

This is -- or was -- an offer made by Corel of 25 GBof free storage on the Storegate on-line storage website. I can't remember to product the offer was made with. But I never took it up since, as you will see in the small print, the offer is/was only valid for two weeks after the Corel product was activated; and the "free" space is/was only available for 3 months -- after which time you have/had to pay for it.

Hi Alfons

Yes there does seem to be an issue with the Random transition selection.

But if you select to use Cross-Fade that transition will be used even after restarting Video Studio.

If you view F6 Edit tab the selection shows as “Random”, that I agree is incorrect.

DO NOT Ok the window simply “Cancel” and the window will close.

For me Cross-fade works for all clips I add to the timelines.

I have just looked at my X5 and find the same thing. I had not noticed it before since I tend to use crossfade for the great majority of my transitions, and so am used to choosing a specific one if I decide to have something other than a crossfade.

But whenever I install (or reinstall) a version of VS, one of the very first things I always do is set crossfade as my default transition; and I did this with X5. However, I have just noted that my X5 -- like yours -- refuses to save the choice. I tried three times -- choosing a preferred transition (including crossfade), but when I reopened X5, it had reverted to random. But as Trevor notes, the crossfade is nevertheless inserted by default between all clips, with no random choices that I could see.

In X6, on the other hand, the selected default transition is saved and reappears when X6 is reopened.

Many thanks to you two!
It's atrange but it's true that when I choose cross-fade it's not kept as default but keeps inserting it between videos automatically.
Ghost? LOL
Anyway I'm happy that works as default. I use it quite a lot.

Hi Alfons

Yes just the wording “Random” that is not updating correctly.

“cold” catalunya, today at 11 degrees C, that’s practically tropical.
UK is enjoying a warm 6 degrees today, grey skies no sun?
It can only get colder over the next few months, Brrrr

Enjoy

Mystery finally solved!!  And here was I always thinking -- given my facility with Portuguese (and my memory, perhaps flawed -- of your Brazilian in-law)! -- that you were a "troublesome fellow", a "rejected lover" or even a tin can!!!

Hi Ken

Ha ha

Sorry Ken I thought you were aware.

Our daughter married a Brazilian called Bruno, with Tristan being the new addition to the family, now they all live in the UK.
At 2 years old becoming quite a handful and taking up lots of time, I guess that’s what grandparents are for, he’s a gorgeous little chap.

Anyway the name Lata was supposed to be a stop gap, a temporary name till I restored my older account, that never happened so Lata remained.

You may be correct “troublesome” yes “rejected lover”, not yet, but what is a “Tin Can” :D

Ask Bruno! A tin can is literally a tin can -- as in a can (or tin) of Watties (or Heinz) baked beans!! (And I'm glad my memory was correct about the Brazilian in-law! )
