burned video freezes

Post by ottersea »

Every once in a while I will get a burned video that when played back will freeze. I can rerun the video and fast forward past where it freezes and then it will play okay. The clip in video studio looks good with all green bars and burns good and says correctly completed. But when I play it back it will freeze. It only happen once in a while and not all the time. Anyone have any idea why it does this?

What exactly have you burnt - a DVD or Blu-Ray disc or something else? What are you playing it on? Some DVD players don't like some brands or batches of discs or even the colour of the dye on them and play them erratically. The same can also occur if the disc is burnt at too high a speed.

Was burned on a memorex DVD-R disc. Was played on a sony blu ray player and a pioneer dvd player with the same affect. I reburned the clip onto another Memorex DVD-R and it played thru the point where it froze on the last one. I am guessing it was something in the burning session the caused it to freeze but do not know what. I am not sure what the burn speed was but I believe that I cannot change that from another problem that I was having.

Get some quality DVDs such as Verbatims or Tayo Ydens. Many consider Memorex near the bottom of the barrel in quality.

I have recently purchased a copy of Videostudio X5 pro and was quite impressed when creating a movie. However, when I burnt it to a DVD it refused to play on my DVD player. Gave a message of 'Wrong disc' It plays fine in the DVD drive on my PC. Not sure whether I have used incorrect settings. Anybody else experienced this issue or know what I am doing wrong.

Incidentally, the same batch of DVDs worked fine when I burnt files using my old version of Power director.

Regards,

Keith
