Screwed Up My X4. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall?

Post by angelau »

Okay so I have a bunch of subdirectories in my program list:

I found a lot of preset images that I decide to load into the X4 in the area where custom artwork comes up. I used the file location button to add them.

Well, as luck would have it, X4 won't load today!!

Do I need to fully uninstall and then install from CD and then install all of the service packs (since 2 and 5/17/13)?

First of all try holding the shift key down and double click the desktop icon for X4.
Look in your Task Manager Processes to see if it is running there.
We cannot see an image from your computer, you need to load it to a site like Photobucket and copy its image URL from there.
Can you reverse what you did and remove those preset images to another folder?
Provide as much information as you can and step us through the processes you did.

Hello HartPaul!

I just had a nice message typed out, and it blinked away and was gone. What? No "undo" here?

Ok. So I put in the CD and chose uninstall, but it asked me if I would let it try to repair the program. Cool. So I said, "yes", and in less than 2m it was fixed!

But somethng really strange happened today.

PSPX4 said it was time for an upgrade. I agreed, but then I don't think I've ever seen that before. I've been upgraded and have had service packs installed, but with a person from Corel on the phone with me.

Do you think this is strange?

Yes it is strange, that you wre on the phone to Corel. :D

By upgrade do you mean an upgrade to PSPX6?
"Servive pack(s)? X6 has so far only had one Service Pack.

Funny hartpaul. I was not on the phone this time. It seemed to be automatic.

Just out of the blue, A window opened which stated that I needed an update. It looks like it added service packs.

Then it worked well, but today another desktop meeting uninstalled the one version that was working, fearing it might have something to do with the virus'. I have spent ALL day uninstalling and reinstalling, etc. all to no avail. I'm going from the install CD.

I've installed the service packs, too.

Now I have one version installed.
Any ideas?
