I am using PSP Pro x6. I edit the photo and then send using the link in the program. MS Outllok pops up just fine and reflects that the ".jpg" file is attached. When the recipient gets the email (on their iPad) the file has turned into a ".dat" file. It is definitely a .jpg when I send it out.
Many thanks for any insights.

Did you use Outlook?
.Dat is an outlook thing. If the email client can't read it it will just show the .dat file instead. The .DAT file contains the email message and the attached files. So all you need is a .DAT reader.
I know, it's annoying. It's one of the many many reasons I hate Outlook. It just has to be different. The other is continuing to use RTF formatting for the email message when almost everyone else has moved to HTML formatting.
------
On the other hand we've had numerous problems where I work with iPad sent attachments as well. Of course those just don't show up or don't include the extension for some bizarre reason. So I blame both sides of the equation. But mostly Outlook.

Thanks!
Yes. I use Outlook because that is the program that PSP opens when I use the email function. When I sent it to a PC, it comes thru to the recipient as a "jpg" file just fine. Is there a way to get PSP to open up my Yahoo mail account instead? I use Outlook only because that is what PSP opens up.

I don't know about Yahoo.
I know you need a client of some kind though. For example I use Thunderbird, and have removed Outlook as the default program for emails. However, I think Yahoo is a jerk and requires a small yearly fee to use a client with its web services. At least they used to, I haven't kept up.

Dear LF:
I paid Yahoo their annual protection fee: $49.99. I set up Thunderbird - thanks for the advice. I set it as the default email client. However, PSP still opens Outlook to try to sent email. I know that it is not for this forum to help me correct. But can you point me in the right direction?
