Phantom Update?

Post by jhvance »

I have a registered version of WinDVD Pro 2010 (v10.0.5.819 LOGID119564) which is operating without apparent problems, but if I have it search for updates from within the program UI it finds there is some update which is indicated as "important" with the subject tag inr the message frame of "Improve the performance of Corel WinDVD Pro 2010" and what appears to be an active link below to "Download update now!". However, if I click on either the message subject or the download link, nothing happens -- no message contents appear and no download activity is initiated.

I'm using FF v25.0.1 as my primary browser and find no new update through my post-login account for download since the August 2011 service pack 8 I'd installed several years ago, so perhaps there is some sort of ActiveX scripting involved in these unresponsive links but they are occurring within the IE-based WinDVD interface and I do have IE (v9.0.8112.16520) installed on that particular desktop running 32-bit Vista Ultimate.

So what gives, and is there really some sort of "performance" update or not?
