Pallettes obscuring main window area

Post by bobtail »

In X4 I could set the pallettes I wanted (layers and History) to a docked position on the RHS. With X6 the pallettes cover the RH part of the window and the image, with the opened image centred on the whole screen so that the RH part is cut off. It can't be centred within the area visible when the pallettes are open. This gives a smaller visible image if the whole image is in view.
This is a serious issue, which X4 handled ok !
Am I missing something ? I've tried all the options but cannot get X6 to behave like x4 :(

Your palettes are 'floating'. I don't have X6, but it sounds like you don't allow docking of palettes. Check under File/Preferences/General program preferences/Palettes to make sure you allow docking.

Place a palette on the right edge and double click on the title bar. That should dock it if docking is allowed.

If that doesn't help, someone else with X6 may show up with an idea. Good luck.

X5 and X6 only allow most palettes to dock to the right-hand side of the screen. So if you're trying to dock them somewhere else, it won't work.

In X4, X5, and X6 provided Docking is turned on, if you grab a palette you'll see some guide arrows pop-up showing your your docking locations. Hover over those arrows to dock the palette.

When you hover a palette over another docked palette you'll get more options for docking either beneath, above, or next to the docked palette.

Great- that was the answer. I had tried everything except the title bar double click !
I am now very happy with X6 except for one thing- I can change the tone of most of the work space except for the working area 'window' which stubbornly remains pale grey. In X4 this changed with the rest og the GUI. :)
