Hi folks,
I am a Video Studio X5 Ultimate user. I have a GoPro 3 Black, and would like a "filter" to get rid of or greatly reduce the fisheye look with the GoPro.
Two questions:
1) What is the best (or any?) way to do this with X5, and
2) Does X6 have a better way?
Thanks...
P.S. I have tried the de-fisheye feature in GoPro Studio 2.x...and honestly, I see very little if any difference in the video.
De-fisheye?

Re: De-fisheye?
Hi
Not sure if Video Studio has a filter specifically for removing the fish eye effect.
I looked at the FX library and the Pinch or FX Pinch filter may straighten things up a little.
I guess it depends on how much it is distorted.
Go Pro users may have ideas?????

Re: De-fisheye?
Lata,
Thanks...
Programs like Adobe Lightroom (but for stills only), and another program from Prodad (for video), called Prodrenalin (and another program of thiers called Defishr), have specific profiles for specific cameras/lenses...that way the "de-fishing" is tailored as exactly as possible for the best possible correction.
But...there are also filters and plugins and such in various programs that approximate a "wide angle" lens correction pretty well.
Again, anyway, I am just wondering if X5 or X6 has something like that.

Re: De-fisheye?
FWIW, I am not aware of any such filter, and as a result bought Prodrenalin when it was first released to use with my Hero 3 footage. Also FWIW, I have not been able to get GoPro's Studio 2.0 to work at all on this computer so have not been able to test the de-fish eye filter it is supposed to have.

Re: De-fisheye?
Ken,
I bought Prodrenalin as well...as far as I can tell, it does a MUCH better job at de-fisheye than GoPro Studio 2.x.
Prodrenalin is great at de-fisheye, but I find the Mercalli in VS X5 to be superior (as well as Youtube's stabilizer...it works great)...weird as they are both Prodad products. I wish the Mercalli that is in Prodrenalin had some settings to play with. I see a possibility where if I shoot at 2.7k/30fps, and then choose 1080p for output, Mercalli has quite a bit of buffer around the 2.7k video to work with, so that the final 1080p product should be very stable and full 1080p resolution...could be a really beautiful thing. I am considering the X6 upgrade for the ability to import/edit 2.7k and 4k video.
Also...
I had trouble running GP Studio at first as well...maybe I can suggest a solution...are you getting an error message that says something about "waterfalls"?

Re: De-fisheye?
No, I get no error msg at all. When I try to insert some video into the program, it simply closes down... Anyway, I don't really need it, and hadn't thought about it in weeks until I saw your post.

Re: De-fisheye?
Bill,
In VSP X6, I agree with Lata that the FX Pinch filter is probably the way to go.
Or...
If you want to try using freeware software with Barrel Distortion Correction plugin, you could try this.

Hope this helps.
