Error on audio device & can't do screen recording

Post by ArrrZ »

My version is VideoStudio X6. Since the update to Windows 8.1 I have been having this error message every time I tried to record the screen.
The message shows "An error occurred on your audio device." and it can't record. The drives're up-to-date, I've checked on the devices they all work fine. I need to record system sounds, however I tried to switch to another device but the error kept appearing.
I also wondered if there's an error why would the app not showing the detail of the error but just describe it as "an error" because it's so vague it can be anything.
Anyone can help me? Pleeease list all the possibilities and solutions. I already tried a lot online solutions they didn't work and it's really making me upset. Any useful reply will be really appreciated.

Hi Guys

First I have to say that not all audio drivers show the same properties, also I don’t run Windows 8 so there will be a big difference in what I see.

I had some issues with screen capture and system audio.
I found by doing a voice sound check that I was able to change the “Input Device” to use Stereo Sound
Also a recent change to my hardware, a graphics card caused me to install new drivers, again I had issues so simply uninstalled my audio and allowed the operating system to install its default audio drivers, now things seem to work

I did a search of the Knowledge Base and found this info, but could not find any reference to W8, maybe you could do your own search?

No audio is recorded when screen capturing in VideoStudio Pro X5

VideoStudio Pro X5 - No system audio detected. Please make sure that this is enabled in your computer and try again

Hoping this helps

Hi Trevor (lata) Ya I check all the audio drivers and have searched extensively. Screen Capture worked perfectly until the windows 8.1 update was released. I am just wishing I never updated as now the only option I have seen to reset the system and start over! Also I can do a sound check and it records the sound check just fine it is only when I go to actually capture my screen presentation... Anyone else find a solution to the message "an error occured on your audio device"?

I didn't find any way to go back to Windows 8.0……
Maybe we can wait until Corel VideoStudio supports 8.1……
Still looking for a solution

"Error on your audio device" SOLVED!!!

Post by ArrrZ »

(This is for Corel VideoStudio X6)
Since the update to Windows 8.1 I've been experiencing this error "An error occurred on your audio device" and can't do screen record.
But after re-installing the app, this problem is SOLVED!!!
It seems that the original files were corrupted, but anyway, it's working right now!
Anybody having this problem can have a try!
Or you can try to repair the app.

I recently did a windows update and ran into this as well. This was the only place I found a solution that worked. Uninstall and reinstalled VS X6 and everything is back to normal. This thread can definitely use a bump to the top :)

Thanks!!

If you had an image backup that would be a mute point. You could reinstall your Win 8 and be back in business. How can anyone who uses a computer under these changing circumstances not have image backups? It saved my butt several times already.

Like the others, after upgrading from Win 8 - Win 8.1 I had to re-install VS X6 Pro in order to get the sound working on screen capture.
