The trial version is a fully working version, and does essentially all that the purchased version can do. However, you get less by way of content (e.g. less menu templates and sample files) to keep the download size of the trial down.

Re: Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 version difference ?
Thanks for answer, why is it that the Pro X6 version takes longer to encode AVCHD Video (.MTS) movies to MP4 as the Pro X5 version used to take much less time ?
Thank You.
Thank You.

Re: Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 version difference ?
Sorry but I'll have to leave your last question to someone else since I don't usually re-encode AVCHD footage -- which is already mpeg-4 but made with the h.264 codec -- to another version of mp4. And I certainly have never made any comparison between the encoding speeds for such a conversion between X5 and X6...

Do you have a short clip that you could upload to a free web sharing site such as 4Shared or Up4Down or some "cloud" server. We could the download it and do some test for comparison. That way we would be working with the identical clips.
Also how much is "much less time"? Are you using identical settings in X5 and X6?
Re: Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 version difference ?
Yes i use same settings, here is a sample for testing

Re: Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 version difference ?
Hi canuck
I ran a few tests yesterday using my own MTS files and indeed X5 is much faster than X6
12 minutes for X6 compared to 3.5 minutes for X5.
I have to retest and make sure I have the same settings for both versions including the hardware acceleration etc. and ensure Smart Render is working for both versions.
I have to say that I wouldn’t normally convert the MTS to MPG4, when I did MTS to MTS the render times were much alike, so maybe a difference in the MPEG4 templates, I suspect Smart Render???
Anyway I will run other tests using amran’s sample

Yesterday my tests showed a marked difference in the times to render my video, not sure why, maybe selected the wrong template? Today I used your files, making sure X5 and X6 were setup the same. The render times are pretty similar as shown above.
X5 does not allow for MPEG4 Pal standards so cannot render to Mpeg4 25fps however this has been addressed with the release of X6.
You are best using X6 to be able to retain your frame rate of 25 fps.
One question, why are you choosing mpeg4 as your final output file?
what are you using that file for?

Re: Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 version difference ?
Hi
By standard template I mean Share Create Video File—any option in the list other than the Custom option.
The default/standard templates may not use the correct properties for your renders,
In particular the frame rate may not use 25fps, (as when using X5.) the interlacing may use Upper Field when you may require Frame Based or Lower Field, these particular properties should reflect the ones used in your original video file, at least where possible.
You can also use Make Movie Templates Manager to create your own templates.
Using X6 creates a template pretty close to your original.
The default data rate is 15000kbps is used, I do not know if increasing this to 20000, (max setting for Mpeg4) will improve quality, it will certainly increase the file size.
By the way you did not say what the difference was in your render times, in the end I concluded there was little difference?

It was a good difference like 30 odd mins extra depending on file size, i manage to resolve the issue by installing the trial version insead of the one provided via purchased link
Thank You.
Thank You.

What version are you talking about?
Trial versions are the same as the purchased program.

Re: Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 version difference ?
Well your posts are somewhat confusing since in your first post you are talking about comparing the trial and the retail X6 version and then in afurther post you are talking about rendering differences between X6 and X5.amran wrote:canuck wrote:amran wrote:It was a good difference like 30 odd mins extra depending on file size, i manage to resolve the issue by installing the trial version insead of the one provided via purchased link
