I usually produce simple slideshows on DVD from jpg files. These have always been PAL for use here in the UK. I now need to produce a version of one to send to people in the United States.
I can always test mine on my own DVD player/TV but I won't be able to test these and don't want an embarrassment of a Christmas present that doesn't work.
Is it the case that I only need to change PAL to NTSC in the Project Properties, burn the DVD and everything will work?
Thanks everybody
Mike

Re: Convert from PAL to NTSC
IF all that you have in the timeline is still images - jpegs - then yes all you need to do is change properties to NTSC and all *should* be good.
be aware however that any video at all in there and it can require a bit more tweaking.

Re: Convert from PAL to NTSC
Hi Mike
Just to add that most DVD players in the UK will play NTSC
The same cannot be said for US DVD players, they may only play NTSC and not Pal
One of my older players needed a setting ticking in the menu, but certainly I have no problems in playing Ntsc
As you are creating a slide show you may improve quality by selecting Frame Based rather than Interlaced.
I would also use Constant bit rate rather than Variable, personal preference.
If you first create an ISO, Disc Image, you can play that using VLC Media Player.
Then if you are satisfied with the quality, burn the Iso to disc.

Re: Convert from PAL to NTSC
That's been a really good help thank you. I was amazed to find that the NTSC DVD played perfectly on my DVD player. I don't think I would have thought of trying it!

Re: Convert from PAL to NTSC
You can set the properties of VS to NTSC to output a form of an ntsc file and burn to dvd.
This should work.
If you want to guarantee it working, you need a proper standards converter like procoder, which will do a far better job, but also cost you a few hundred pounds.
Regardless of whether you burn a pal or ntsc file, a computer will be able to play back the dvd with ease.
