Burning to disk on Pro 6
I know this has been discussed before cos I did a search but cannot find a discussion relating to the problem of the message "not enough space on file" on the Pro 6. If its here and I can't find it I apologise for repeating it. I am just trying to burn a dvd for the first time using Pro 6. I have followed all the advice form the previous discussions hoping they would fix it but I think I am not savvy enough to undersdand it properly. Very frustrating working all day on the project then can't burn it. Please help, somebody!!??

PLease describe exactly (step-by-step) exactly what you are doing. There is just not enough information in your post to offer any suggestion.
How long in time is your project?

Thank you for replying...I am just trying something else so I think it may be ok. I will come back if same problem occurs. Than you. x

Re: Burning to disk on Pro 6
Nope, still no luck.
I have rendered the video, clicked Share, followed the procedure to burn to disk right up to pressing the burn button but get the message "The working folder [c:\Users\my name\Documents\CorelVideoStudioPro\16.0\] may not have enough space.Change the working folder path on Preferences." I clicked Preferences (bottom left) and there's the file. I check in my hard drive C rive and there it is. It doesn't say how to "change the path" or make more space. (I am still a bit of a novice with all this). Please help!!

Re: Burning to disk on Pro 6
First of all, do you have more than one hard disk on your computer? That 'not enough space' message tends to indicate that your entire hard disk C:\ does not have enough space, and what it is asking you to do is designate and drive where there *is* enough space e.g. either another built-in drive or external hard drive connected by USB...
If you have such a drive, then simply create a new folder on it with a name you can remember e.g. X:\My DVD. Then go back to raise that "change the path" message and type in X:\My DVD. Then in the burn process the program will use that new drive for all the actions that go along with burning.

Re: Burning to disk on Pro 6
After trying what Ken suggested and if that worked then I would make it a high priority to clean up your C: drive to get lots more free space. If you really have very little free space on your C: drive, you will continue to run into the same problems and your system will slow down and eventually crash.Swordmaiden wrote:I have tried saving to a new folder where the video is the only file in the folder but still the same message. Re: Burning to disk on Pro 6
Thank you, your advice makes sence. My C drive was in the red. I thought I could just copy the Corel to my D drive, delete it from the C drive and carry on. Now I find its not that simple and I have lost everything I worked on yesterday. Not a problem really cos I learned a lot while doing it and can do it all again, its part of the learning curve. I deleted what i could and did a clean up and the C drive went out of the red. However, I find I cannot delete all the programmes. All I can do now is try and download the programme from scratch and start again...but I am worried that I still have programmes from the original that won't delete. I was hoping to download the new prograne to my D Drive but the download doesn't give me the option of where to save to, so it will go straight to my C DRive and Im right back where I started.

Re: Burning to disk on Pro 6
Although moving programmes about can be done it can also give rise to problems - you really need to look carefully at what DATA you have on your hard drive - how many photos - how many videos - how many documents. All those sort of files can be very easily transferred to an external flash or hard drive and would not only allow you to work on editing your videos but would speed up your whole computer.
make a careful assessment of what is on your hard drive.

Re: Burning to disk on Pro 6
Thank you. I already had all my music, photos, videos etc on a D Drive to leave my C Drive free.
ok I have downloaded the whole programme again from the Corel website. I tried saving it onto my D DRive but it has gone straight to my C Drive whichs in the red again. I now can do nothing with any of it. It is completely FUBAR and I cannot even open the programme from any source. I am spinning in circles here and getting no where. Very upset.

Just how big is your hard drive - in Gb's - you must have an awful lot of un-necessary programmes on it to fill a modern HDD.

Re: Burning to disk on Pro 6
What do you mean by "just copy the Corel to my D drive"? Do you mean the actual "Corel Vs X6" program or do you mean the project files or what?Swordmaiden wrote:Thank you, your advice makes sence. If you want to remove a program from your system you cannot simple delete some files and expect to have "removed" it from you system. Dozens if not more files may remain somewhere on your system plus lots of entries in your registry. To properly remove a program you have to use the "Add/remove" feature of your operating system.
How big is your C: drive? Do you do a regular maintenance on it: removing remp files, degragment the drive? Have you removed (ie uninstalled) any programs not needed to gain more hard drive space?
Also "downloading" means getting a program from a website a copying it to your system. What you are calling "downloading" actually is called "installing" the program. It helps to use the correct terminology to avoid a lot of confusion and misunderstanding.

Re: Burning to disk on Pro 6
Sorry but I am not that IT savvy and am doing my best with what little knowledge I have. I have tried to download the Corel software again but save it onto the D Drive instead of the main C Drive. Yes I regularly clean up my drives. I have downloaded the Corel again and it went straight to my C Drive which is now red again. I have tried to find all the original hidden files to delete. Now the new Corel won't open. I think I have been defeated. I need a gin & tionic !

Re: Burning to disk on Pro 6
Please help. I have just got my laptop back after having it cleaned up; I nowhave 93GB of free disc space, I have gone to re-download the Corel Video Pro 6 using the serial number for activation and it tells me I don't have the right to use it. I have checked the website and gone to the "download" in the installation support section and just get an empty black box.....Help. (dissmayed)

Re: Burning to disk on Pro 6
Hi Swordmaiden
What a muddle.
When you say you downloaded X6 was the download from your Corel Account or was the download the trial version.
Can you remember when you first purchased if you activated the trial or a new downloaded program that you received after purchase.
Go to your Corel account and check your Product details, you should be able to see your VS serial number
