Adjust Mode - do you seriously adjust?

Post by Tadjio »

I have to admit to never using Adjust Mode (apart from a quick peek with new releases of PSP to see what's changed;)

I am interested to know if anyone reading this forum seriously uses Adjust Mode to err adjust photos?

Looking down the list of left-hand features, I would want to add Levels (for Shadows & Highlights clipping and adjustment).

Personally, I would like to see Adjust Mode replaced by the AfterShot Pro editing facilities :!:

I don't use adjust mode. I use PSP from within another program to do editing my management and adjusting program can't do (adding text, layers etc.) I would not lot to see anything like AfterShot Pro which is (IMHO) not very good at all. As per the SP1 thread, I would LOVE to see PSP as a stand alone editor with no database/manage/adjust (could be a separate program.)
Adverts for Corel products when you close PSP don't bother me.

As I've said in the SP1 discussion thread, I think Adjust is dangerous and should be eliminated or totally revamped. It is not possible to check what you have done or go back, so if you are unhappy with your results you have to be very careful to get out without saving or be sure to use save as. For example, say you go into white balance and change the temperature from 5000 (the default, regardless what the temp. was for your image) to 4500, then go to some other adjustment such as local tone mapping and others then go back to white balance - guess what, the temperature is 5000 again. The same with other adjustments. I like to know what the setting is after I have made a change and I would like it to persist.

Perhaps it works for some who make only one "standard" change and save, but it's not for me. Edit is all I need for making changes. I think adjust could throw off people who first start experimenting with the program. The same method id used with the RAW engine and is equally useless.

I've looked at a number of RAW editing programs, did not want to go to Adobe, did not like Bibble but found that ASP works well for me - but I realize it is not for everyone. I like the capability to edit RAW, plus the batch processes and cataloging and the resulting JPGs are goo enough quality for most of my purposes. I follow up with PSP when needed.

By this I mean the basic image editing from ASP with, of course, the ability to see your changes and go back and adjust them, without undoing other changes.
Does anyone support this proposal?

Adjust mode doesn't even begin to interest me.
