X6 Sp1...

Post by sheilsoft »

Folks,

I've just got round to installing SP1...

It still loads Nik plugins, where you can save as from the software once you have made any changes. But, if you OK the action, expecting it to return to PSP with the altered image, it still hangs PSP... 'not responding'. Not good enough Corel!

More importantly for me, and I'm sure others... If you load an image or images in 'Untabbed Documents' mode, ie each image is within its own window. This is VERY useful when working on multiple images so you can compare what you're doing between images... Now in PSP X6, when you zoom on a particular image only the image within the window frame zooms, and the window remains static. Which means as you work between images or want to place images on the screen, you have to manually drag the corners of the windows to resize them on the screen. Previous versions always zoomed the whole box. This is what made PSPs UI so intuitive, and very quick to use... now it's just clunky!

For this reason alone, I have to use X5. (let me know if there's a workaround or setting I'm not aware of)

Also still seeing artifacts around the work area (see attachment).

I was expecting better for SP1... disappointed! :(

Rgds,
Howard

I agree that this issue is a nightmare.
Don't forget this small workaround: Press Ctrl+W to wrap the Window frame around the Image.

I have learned from experience to not be one of the first to use a service pack. Every bit of software will have some bugs in it. I purchase thenew versions as they come out, but if I come across a bug then I revert to using a previous version for that particular operation. Likewise with service packs - wait a bit til some others find the bugs, Corel does the fix, then download the updates and apply.

Agreed. Corel please return to the previous method of zooming within windows.
It's now a pain in the $#@%. Obviously an 'improvement' thought of by some one who doesn't use it!!

Version 16.1.0.48 here, I can also confirm that
File/Preferences/View/Zooming -> Fit window to image when zooming in | zooming out
does not work in x6 sp1. Regardless of these options being on or off, the behavior is the same as first poster described. When not using tabbed browsing, window is not resizing to image size when image is being zoomed in/out.
I checked on X3 and there it is working as intended. It is as if those two options are always off in X6.1

Yup, it's a pain.
Lots of negative comment about this, here and in other forums.
I rolled back my system to before SP1 and don't have to put up with this annoyance until it's put right :-)

Does anyone know whether SP1 addresses problem of 64 bit version of PSP X6 not recognising Twain scanner for Import?

Your scanner likely has 32 bit twain drivers. If you use the 32 bit version of PSP does it find the scanner(s)? If so then you'll need to use that. It's a 32 bit vs. 64 bit programming thing, not specific to Corel PSP.

If you think you have 64-bit drivers for your scanner double check by installing Twacker.

http://www.twain.org/images/docs/Twack_64.msi

That will check your computer for 64-bit TWAIN compatible drivers. If it doesn't find anything, then it's not Corel's fault. If, however, it does find the appropriate drivers then it could be a problem with Corel. But you have to know what should and should not work before expecting a fix.
