I am using VideoStudio Pro X4 on a Dell Lattitude 610 running Win XP Home SP3. I am trying to capture video using a Plextor ConvertX Px-M402U. When I hook it up, I can see the video and hear the audio in the capture window. When I click "Capture Video" the frame freezes and the clock timer continues to move. When I click "Stop Capture", I get the message: Capture failure. The file is corrupted and is unusable. ...
Can someone help me figure out what I have done wrong?
Thanks.

Re: Capture problem with Plextor ConvertX Px-M402U
What software came with the Plextor? I ask since most capture devices are tweaked to work specifically with the software supplied with them. I know that in the past Plextor used to supply InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2 Video Editing and DVD Authoring Software. But that was before InterVideo was taken over by Corel.
But whatever software came with it, you need to use that to capture the video, and then you simply open the captured video in VS for editing. Depending on what you intend making, you should capture in a format compatible with your end product. So if you intend making DVDs, then capture in DVD-compatible mpeg-2.
