I'm running Windows 7 & cannot install PSP x6 - installation wizard fails. Tried downloading SW again, same result. No prior versions of PSP.

Have a look at the 'pinned' thread at the top "Corel PaintShop Pro X6 Service Pack 1":

Is your problem caused by the fact that you only have PSP X6 64-bit and not 32-bit installed?

I have just successfully run the re-issued PSP X6 Ultimate SP1 Upgrade that is now available.

Just to clarify, it is only necessary for users of PSP X6 Ultimate who only use the 64-bit version and didn't install the 32-bit version.
