I am having problems capturing video. I bought a new laptop and it didnt have firewire on it so I bought a type II firewire card and it came with VS 8 SE Basic. I have used Studio 9 Plus for a long time. When I got my new computer I installed studio and I could never capture video on my laptop. I have had problems with that program for sometimes. So I decided to look for a new program and I found VS 8, but I keep getting a message Unable to switch to capture mode, check if your video capture driver is working properly. I have checked and checked and I have no idea how to get this program or studio to start working. I have tried Windows Movie Maker and I get a message that says Class Not Registered. I have contacted Studio, but nobody helps there, the support is horrible. What am I doing wrong. I need help, I am getting frustrated. This is what I am using.

The firewire wire card that I bought is an
ADS Tech Pyro 1394 Port
P/N: API-601
I put the card in the computer and program recognize the card and camera. I can start the camera from the controls on the screen, but when I try to capture I get Cannot capture then I get Unable to switch to capture mode. I try changing plugins (MV to Ti) but nothing works. I have checked to see if I have the preview window set for the right preview mode. I am going to check the firewall settings. Nick

Did you contact Ulead Technical Support?
I think this problem can be easily sorted out.
Anyway, just download the latest drivers here:
http://www.adstech.com/support/Download ... 0Notebooks
I have the same problem before, Ulead Tech support gave me the following:
Download the latest version of DirectX and other necessary updates from Microsoft:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
Try to plug-in the DV camera before opening the VideoStudio program.
Be sure that there are no other running applications.
At the VideoStudio program.
Click Tools; select 'Select Capture Device Control', select the appropriate device control for your DV cam (MS 1394 or TI 1394).
Select appropriate capture plug-in (select Directshow if you want to capture in AVI format and select DSW MPEG capture plug-in if you want to capture in MPEG format).
Then go to capture step and customize all other capture settings.
NOTE: It is suggested that you also installed the latest update patch for your VS8 SE version.
