I did find this option in my Corel Account - Ironically I didn't have any of these boxes ticked yet I still got notification of the original SP 1 being available so I dunno !

Ahhh sorry - not as clever as Joelle (my above image file didn't work) but basically a similar option as you have posted - can be found in your account settings. . . but as I said it made no difference.
Hehe, that used to happen to me ..

In X6 (pre-SP1) you can go to Help>Messages and then you get this:
Help-Messages.jpg
Clicking on Discovery Center tells you to go to Help>Video tutorials, but I couldn't find anything else in there.
Tips of the week don't tell you how to deal with unwanted messages either.

Joelle

PS..To insert an image file with your message:
Click on Upload attachment, locate the file >Choose file>Add file>Place in line.
Make sure the cursor is where you want to add the image. I have added mine in the oddest of places! and had to delete them again.

On an entertaining note, considering the path this topic has taken.

Got notice that the Development Team is working on a hotfix to fix the zooming issue. This hotfix will not come as a patch though. It will come through the messages dialog. So turning it off, if that were possible, would hide the hotfix from you when they eventually get it figured out.

Thanks for telling us.
I guess those who have reverted back to PSP X6 SP0 won't get the message :?:

On a personal note, it doesn't bother me.
I am not in a hurry to install Service Pack1, there isn't anything in there that is an incentive to upgrade.
I don't use the Manage/Adjust sections.
The Team didn't reinstate the choice of background colours in the non-tabbed workspace, which would be a reason to upgrade.
So, no worries about messages getting here or not.

One very small incentive to upgrade for me personally is that they fixed a problem with 'zooming' for Tabbed Document users like myself.
Previously, I usually found when I loaded large images that the "Auto size - Automatically sets the zoom factor" wasn't working perfectly and I was getting a small bit of vertical scrolling.
It has caused a lot of trouble over the last few versions of PSP but this is now fixed in SP1 :D

I'm still awaiting the hotfix for Untabbed Windows zooming as I do use this feature on occasion when I have many images to compare. I just hope they don't break the fix for Tabbed Documents

Before the Zooming issue cropped up.. I have always 'zoomed' holding the Ctrl Key and can zoom the parts of the image to my liking (let go of the Ctrl key for a sec and re-position the cursor in the image, hold the Ctrl key again and continue), so the fixed point bit didn't worry me as I didn't see it as a problem.
I am increasingly becoming very disillusioned with the way Corel has handled PSP.
As you know I do a huge amount of 'editing', not just basic stuff, so can do well without all this hassle with every new version.
It's not very encouraging :-(

Hey Joelle
1. Thanks for the tip on "inserting an image" (I will have probably forgotten how by the time I need to do it again but much appreciated anyway).
2. You say you're not in a hurry to install SP1 - no incentive. . .so are you just putting up with a barrage of upgrade messages coming through ? I took the SP1 upgrade but like you I see nothing new of interest in it. I believe I have the ability to uninstall this and reinstall my old version. The dilemma - does one stay with the SP1 version, put up with the zooming issue while waiting for a fix, or does one back up to the pre SP1 version, put up with the upgrade messages - buggered if I know !
3. Just curious - you say "it doesn't really bother you" and "you don't use the Manage/Edit sections", then later you go on to say "you do a huge amount of 'editing', not just basic stuff". You've lost me . . .you sound like a Power User with some secret tools - whadda ya mean ? :?
Hey great news LeviFiction thanks - I guess that means they have acknowledged it was a cockup and not a "design change" :D

Duh, should have said Manage/Adjust, sorry about that, no wonder you were confused.
Just shows you, I never use them, don't even get the names right..

As far as I am concerned, PSP is an Image editor, not a File Manager, but I am most probably in a minority.
I find Windows Explorer a lot easier to access.

I have not received any messages I am pleased to say :-)

Now I'd better edit my post..

I agree with you 110% and I also do a lot of editing. I never use Manage or Adjust.

I agree too :)
But I must confess to dabbling with Manage Mode occasionally and then quickly giving up. I think the experience of the Catalog Image Database over the years since version XI put me off. :(
Adjust Mode? To me it seems a... On second thoughts, I had better not say it. Does anyone actually use it seriously? :?:

The file system in PSP used to be a separate download and optional, it would be much better if that was so again.
A smaller footprint for the users who only want to edit.

I agree completely. The Adjust mode is pointless too because you can do all of that in Edit mode. Heck, I don't ever print from PSP either. It would never occur to me to do so or to send emails from PSP. And, don't get me started on Facebook integration.

I like Manage mode for comparing and selecting images, combined with using the tray (it'll be usable once they fix the x64 version) but after organizing/cataloging elsewhere.

Adjust Mode - I've ranted before about how dangerous a tool it is in its current incarnation. You have no idea what you've done and cannot go back. A friend called that he is trying out PSP X6 and in the conversation it turned out he was starting out with Adjust Mode. I warned him away from that. He could get burned in his experimenting and ditch the program.
