Hardware for best performance of VS6 pro ultra

Post by heagneypr »

Just had a major computer meltdown of my computer, which wasn't running VS6 at its best. I'm going to purchase a new system to replace the 5-year-old system that died. This time I need to know the best specs to seek out. Any suggestions?

It also depends a bit on what type of video you will be editing most. If, for example, you have an AVCHD high definition camcorder, that is one of the most demanding formats on computer resources. So depending on your wallet, you should but the most powerful computer you can above and beyond those minimum requirements listed by Brian.

Following on from what Ken has said, at some stage in the future, ( lets hope very soon) Video Studio will be available in 64 bit, so from my experience of using 64 bit NLE's, I would recommend that you have at least 6 Gb of ram, more if your budget allows and the best video card you can afford, an i7 processor or AMD equivalent, also consider a desktop rather than a laptop as laptops can be very difficult to upgrade.
