Dv to DVD

Post by nashje »

I am using VS5 Pro. I am a basic user and mostly just use the dv to dvd wizard. When I used VS3 Pro, it came with several templates that are not available in VS5 Pro. Can these be imported over?
Does VS6 Pro come with new templates? I see templates available for purchase but can they be used with the dv to dvd wizard and if so, how do I install them so they are available using the wizard?

Not sure about moving X3 to X5 - I have a feeling X3 used something slightly different.

but you can download quite a few more templates for free - either by using the 'do More' tab in the Corel Guide in X5 or by going direct to :-

just a note -you will see I always say X3 and X5 - VS3 and VS5 are very very old products - the X is the Roman ten so you are talking about VS13 and VS15

Hi Brian

Nashje is using the DV to DVD wizard, this scans the DV tape, then creates a project no editing.. the templates it uses (only a handful available) appear to be DVD Menu’s, then burns the disc.
Unfortunately the Wizard is a pop up window as far as I know there is no easy way of adding templates unlike the burner module.

I have used Mini DV for a lot of years and never used the wizard because of the lack of editing allowed. I always use the full editor where as you know have access to an abundance of templates.
The burner module also has many more options than the DV to DVD wizard
The only way to activate the wizard is to connect a DV camcorder via firewire.

Ah yes - sorry nashje - like Trevor I have not used the DV-DVD option for many years and I honestly thought the last time I did use it it used the same instant project templates as the main editor because many of them look so similar - obviously not - the templates I directed you to are no good for the DV - DVD wizard.

I just started up the DV-DVD wizard in VS X5 and in seconds it all came flooding back to me as to why I consigned it to the "never use" bin - it took nearly 10 minutes to capture 2.5 minutes of video and then gives you almost no options to make the video "yours"

The templates I directed you to are 'Instant project' templates - you will find many of them already in the main editor of VS X5 and you can add all those new ones as well.

If you want your videos to be different without a lot of hard work why not have a look at the 'Instant project' option in VS X5 - I think you will like it
