Garbled DVD's

Post by vandan »

:? VideoStudio 7

I previously used this product successfully but now the content is garbled. the sound runs through in a complete stream
but the video jumps and breaks. I get sore eyes watching it. It seems to
jump and replay in small bits.

Also the sound gets ahead of the video.

I uninstalled the program and removed all traces by doing a search and
deleting any files I found, then I reinstalled and it still happened. can
you offer any suggestions please.

Thanks for the forum I am learning a lot from everyones input.

More info, please. Does the problem occur during playback on the PC or a standalone player? Have you used this exact media successfully in the past? Is this a new spindle / box of disks?

along with THoff's questions, what were your settings for the disc you created? PAL or NTSC, and video resolution, video bitrate, and audio type/bitrate :?:

As I reinstalled VideoStudio I assumed that all settings would be reset at default. The only change I made was to the default transition.

The problem occures when I playback on the computer, Ps2 and dvd players. The media I used was from a spindle that I had used successfully, and I used a new spindle as well.

The media I am using is successful when I copy DVDs.

Thanks again,

Vandan -- as George has already asked, we have to know the properties of the files you burned to DVD before we can offer any sensible help to you. It would also be very useful to know what the properties of your captured files and how you captured them.

Thanks Ken,

I'm not really savy with properties and all that.

I video on a JVC digital camera and then capture through Winfast capture card the file is then an "InterVideo Media File".

I then work on it in VideoStudio 7 and save as "Ulead VideoStudio 7.0 Document" then burn straight away.

I have at times saved a project to finish at a later time and in that case I save it "Same as project settings"

I can't understand why all of a suden things are not working. I have previously done highlights of football games, added music, photoes and titles and all worked well.

Thanks again,

With VS7 open, and one of your captured files in the library pane area of the screen, put your mouse pointer over the file and click the RIGHT hand button. At the bottom of the drop-down menu which appears, is the word 'Properties'. Click on that with the left mouse button, and that will list all the properties of the file. We need to know that.

 Okay, this is what I found

C:\Documents and Settings\Vanessa\My Documents\DVD TRY10722-1350(CVBS).mpg
Format 24 Bits, [720x576]
MPEG-2, Field A,Variable bit rate (Max. 6000 kbps)
25,000 frames/sec

MPEG Audio Layer 2 Files
44100Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo

I did't type it all out, it seemed mostly to do with size and duration.

Thanks vandan
