Startup Failure

Help. I am now getting a failure as soon as I select anything from the VS9 startup menu. The error reads "The instruction at 0x02a8415b referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be read." I think this is due to this Windows Installer 3.1 error I have been reading about. Somebody else said they were able to uninstall the Windows Installer and their capture and startup problems went away in both VS8 and VS9. How do you uninstall Windows Installer. I went into Windows Explorer and I cannot see Windows Installer as a program that can be uninstalled/removed.

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down, select Windows Installer 3.1, remove it.
