Windows XP Home, Sp 3 with all updates.
My video and slide viewing program, “Memories on TV” contains a number of file format types BUP, IFO and VOB. As I understand, these are common file types. WinDVD 8 plays the resultant videos on the computer OK, but WinDVD 11 does not. The resultant DVD disk plays fine on the TV using a DVD player. The resultant disk plays in WinDVD 11 on the computer, even though the same file types exist on the disk, but the right click menu does not allow me to get to the root menu. When I play the resultant disk on the computer using WinDVD 8, the right click menu allows me to get to the root menu.
I would expect that v 11 would have the same features v 8, but apparently this is not the case. I currently need to keep v 8 in the computer in order to do everything I want to do, and v 11 is not living up to my expectations.
Please assist.

Re: WinDVD 11 Video Playback Issues
I don't use WinDVD, so cannot answer your specific question about the difference(s) between versions 8 and 11. However, more generally, I would note that while format types VOB, IFO and BUP are "common", they are exclusive to a finished video DVD. (The VOB files are the active video files, and are DVD-compatible mpeg-2 using the .vob extension. The IFO files are InFOrmation files relating to the structure of the disc, and the BUP files are BackUP files.)
As you will be aware, a DVD (or a DVD Folder or ISO) contains two folders: a Video_TS folder, which contains the files with those extensions; and an Audio_TS which is almost invariably empty (as the audio is embedded in the video files in the other folder).
I am not sure what exactly you are trying to do but in most software DVD players with which I am familiar, they will seek out the Video_TS folder and play it from there, and one of the buttons on the interface will usually allow access to the root menu. But as I say, I am not familiar with WinDVD 11, so am unsure what the interface buttons include.

Thanks for the info on what the files are.
