Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7 Problem and Captures

Post by karlo »

Everytime I start Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7, I always receive the following errors:

Image

Also, when capturing using Ulead Video Capture, even If I change the frame rate to 24fps, when capturing a video with more than 10-20 seconds, the audio is a little unsynchronized and drop frames occurs...

And when the video has a *white* color, some *pixels* appears...

Here are the videos captured using Ulead Video Capture http://videos.gokarlo.info and click on gb_mtv_sukob_na.wmv.

Hi

For starters, uninstall then delete any MSP 7.0 entries in Documents and Settings/Your Name + All Users etc./Application Data/Ulead Systems/Ulead MediaStudio Pro.

Then reinstall with the latest patch http://www.ulead.com/tech/msp/msp_ftp.htm

Hopefully this will put you on track

btw, which capture device?

And, at your convenience of course, if you could let us know what your hardware/software combinations are, maybe we could actually try to help :?

hmm... let me try the reinstall thing later... my capture card which i hate is a USB one... pinacle LINX2 and i hate when it captures.. mostly the white parts are weird... here are the videos captured using that stupid capture card http://videos.gokarlo.info feel free to check some videos out...

i get drop frames when capturing which i hate... feel free to see the videos with many drop frames...

when i capture, the video capture card has a thing to input audio, when i capture using that thing, i have double the drop frames. but when i put the audio of the camera to my sound card, i only have half drop frames probably 100-300 drop frames in a very motion video... but when i use the integrated one.. hmnm... 500-2000 drop frames..

Pentium 3, 700 Mhz, windows xp pro sp2...

Hi

Do you have a bitrate choice when capturing?

Capturing at lower quality may help?

A Firewire card WILL help DV Capture.

I suggest 90% of your problems are here. XP Pro AND MSP together take a lot of resources. If you don't have a video-dedicated fast HDD, at least 512 Mb RAM and a finely-tuned machine with a good, dedicated (not shared) USB2 connection, your goose is probably cooked :( I suggest you open Windows Task Manager/Performance when you attempt to capture and monitor the CPU, physical memory and PF usage. If the CPU even approaches 100%, the available phys. memory goes <100 Mb or the PF peaks to about 50% or more of your virtual memory. Make sure DMA is enabled on your video drive, as well as all the others.

Also, the codec and compression you use is important. Try a codec which allows a low bitrate/high compression. Even if the pic is too small and the quality poor, you can then gradually improve on this until your system hiccups, when you know you have passed the limit.

I seriously suggest that if you are serious about video editing, the moment has arrived to spend a few hundred whatsits and buy a computer worthy of the job instead of a machine that is probably the best part of 8 years old. You will find it increasingly difficult to find any software that will run well on it. Sorry!

I'm also not sure how the PIII 700 MHz handles the USB 2.0 connection. USB, IMHO, is always iffy at best, when it comes to capturing full frame motion video. I would prefer a firewire connection. When I started out, I used a PIII 400MHz machine with a firewire PCI card and a 7,200 rpm HDD with no capture problems. It took forever to render my final video though

I agree, but I rather gather the OP is trying to capture analogue footage, which is totally different from simply copying a DV stream straight to HDD and which requires huge resources that he simply does not have. Unless his capture card contains a hardware codec and he does not try to transcode, I would say capturing analogue with a software codec in real time is well beyond his computer's capabilities, especially as he has a bloatware OS.

I'm not even sure if he is capturing to avi or mpeg, either way, the USB port is not going to do it, especially with the slow processor. I would suggest a firewire port to be added and proper cable to be purchased as a starting point.

Thank you very much... In Ulead Video Capture, how can I change the color of my captured video? Currently it's I420 then when I change it to YUV12, it reverts back to I420.
