Timeline Question

Post by ragnar35 »

I am a former Pinnacle Studio user. I am having some difficulty with VideoStudio Ultimate x6, and I know it is most likely operator error. When I drag and drop a video or photo into the middle of an existing project, it doesn't "push" the title slides and overlay graphics to keep it in sync with the video clips they were intended to be used with. Is there a setting or method to be able to do this?

Thanks,
Paul

Try enabling Ripple Effect by clicking on the littlet down arrow on the left of the screen beside the main video track.

Here's an image with the arrow pointing at the ripple editing control.

Hi Paul
And welcome to VideoStudio land. I started with Pinnacle Studio 5 and got to 15 before I was "converted". (mainly because PS15 jammed my computer up so badly, it needed major attention) You will find VS a more logical and friendly programme.

As Ken pointed out, you can "lock" any or all the tracks to each other using the Ripple icon. Again know when to switch it off. I normally slide the other tracks along manually for minor changes in my main timeline.
You will find with X6 that you can do anything that PS will do but it may not be obvious at first. My one criticism is the poor range of "Auto Music" supplied with the original programme but my trick is to find a suitable CD track of similar time length to the video and "stretch" it to fit. To do this Hold SHIFT and Click on the end of the CD track and push or pull to align with the finish of the video. All the notes remain as does the pitch but the speed is varied slightly.
Have fun!
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.
