X5 Clipboard full

Post by Pete122s »

I was trying to find all the photo files on my drives with X5 in manage mode. Ran very slow, when I went to close message said clipboard very full. How do I get into the clipboard and reduce it's size?

That's just something PSP warns when you've left image data in the clipboard. It'll be wiped out the next time you copy and paste something. It's not something to worry about for most people. For the most part that's an old warning back when RAM was at more of a premium.

You can, if you want, tell PSP to empty the clipboard every time you close the program.

FIle -> Preferences -> General Program Preferences.

Under Miscellaneous

There is a drop-down box for "Clipboard data on Exit" if you want to just delete it, ask the user, or leave it alone.

If you delete it then everything you've copied won't be available after you close the program. Just something to keep in mind.

Yes. Two ways you can do this.

1) Paste the items somewhere and save.

2) PSP uses the WIndows clipboard, not its own. So to gain access to the clipboard just use WIndows XP's own clipboard viewer.

The clipboard program is located in C:\Windows\System32\clipbrd.exe

Below is a quote from a Microsoft article on creating a link to this program on your desktop for quick and easy access.
To open the Clipboard Viewer
  • Right-click your desktop, point to New, and then click Shortcut.
  • In the location field, type %windir%\system32\clipbrd.exe. Click Next.
  • Click Finish.
Now you can double-click the clipbrd shortcut on your desktop to launch the Clipboard Viewer.

LeviFiction Thanks I did as you suggested and do have a shortcut for clipbrd. Opened to clipbook viewer and within it enlarged clipboard. Got this message; Clipbook Viewer cannot display the information, try pasting it into a document. There is no other info in the clipboard so there is nothing to paste. Maybe it's all lost In the Clipbook Viewer
I can open files in File and Save As. Under View I see Default Format is checked as well as Tool Bar, Status Bar and Full Page. I am confused. I expected to see photo files that I just Saved in Psp after much work. I would really like to find thes images as a lot of work went into them. I know now what I did wrong but really don't and exactly can't redo the work exactly the same for a second time. I was working on 3 photos for HDR and had combined them into a really nice finnished product and I'm sure they went into the clipboard. That's why I got the origional message ,Clipboard should be very full,. You have been very helpfull and I feel I'm really close but no cigar. I"ll ck. my preferences and see what I did as far as empying the clipboard when I close PSP.
Many thanks. Pete122s PS the one weird thing is that it says in prop for icon, "NT windows clipbook viewer"! I run XP but do have a old drive as E that may have been NT at one time.
Thanks again

XP is based on NT.

Now, if you've saved the file then the file is not in the clipboard. The clipboard is only where things you've copied go. If the data is in a format that the clipboard viewer cannot recognize then it won't be able to display it. But you can paste the clipboard data back into PSP or into another program using the Paste command.

I don't know that HDR uses the clipboard. It could but I assumed it just opened the files and not placed them into the clipboard. Even so, if you've saved the file you won't look for it in the clipboard.
