Audio Source(s) in VideoStudio Pro X5
Heya,
I need to make recordings of myself playing my guitar, for my teacher. I need to grab the audio signal input from my USB soundcard and I also need to get the audio output. I usually practice alongside a program called guitar pro. I'm written some songs in it, and I play along to those songs. So I need to capture the audio from Guitar Pro along with my own guitar signal coming from my USB soundcard.
I can't find the settings to do this. Do you guys know how to do this?
Best regards,
Daqar

VideoStudio is a Video editor which captures sound - along with a video - so the best way to use VideoStudio would be to connect your camcorder to your PC and record video and sound together - using the 'Capture' tab.
If you want to record sound only then you do not need to use VideoStudio - you do not really need any programme since Windows itself provides sound recording facilities - or if you want something more refined then try "Audacity" a FREE programme which you can download from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

Re: Audio Source(s) in VideoStudio Pro X5
I understand that I need the capture tab. I also want to record the video signal. My challenge is to get the correct audio signals with my video signal:
Audio line in from Steinberg CI2 + Audio line out from Guitar Pro + video signal from Logitech Webcam 9000 = video of me playing my guitar.
Best regards,
Daqar

We're going in circles here... I know how to capture video!
I need to control the audio source, to make sure it uses my usb soundcard!

Record from your USB sound card to a file in your PC. When you open the Edit in VS, click on the music icon in the library window and Browse for that file. Drag the file on to a music timeline and align with your video.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Hi Daqar
From the capture tab – capture video there is an Options Cogwheel this will allow you to set the capture properties, there should be the option to set the audio input, it may default to Line –In or Mic but USB audio should be in the choices.
However----What you see after pressing Options depends on the type of capture device you are using, so I do not know exactly what you are seeing. I assume the USB device will show the audio properties.
I have a EZCAP device connected via USB but this only transfers video, the audio is connected using composite cables, and in some cases needs to bypass the device and connect directly to Line-In
As I say each device will give different capture conditions, and indeed we cannot see what you are seeing?

Ok, Ill try and grab some screenshots then. I feel I've been over the userinterface several times, but I might have missed it. I remember I could do this back in the spring when I first got VS Pro X5...lata wrote:Hi Daqar

So finally got around to post my screenshot of VideoStudio X5, I can't find any button at all that allows me to switch from the camera mic to the line-in...

Re: Audio Source(s) in VideoStudio Pro X5
Hi
I see the word Options with a cogwheel.
This should give you access to the Video Capture Properties opening a new window.
What you see depends on the device connected as Source.
There should be options to set the capture properties including the audio.
I do not have a web cam connected but will do a test on a laptop, given time.
By the way you can attach a Jpeg image to your post, Attachment options at the bottom of the post.
Limit is 246 Kb I think?

I tried accessing the options under the cog-wheel. There are no options for audio source, once I've selected the webcam... =o(

Re: Audio Source(s) in VideoStudio Pro X5
Takes in four separate sound sources - mixes them together at the volumes you choose - then outputs on one sound channel to plug into your recording device (computer) - it's called a Sound Mixer - they range from small 4 channel versions like that up to massive console containing a few hundred channels as would be used in recording studios by proper recording companies.
maybe you could even upgrade later :-

Re: Audio Source(s) in VideoStudio Pro X5
I already have one of those! The problem is still HOW to get video studio to use THAT as sound input instead of the built-in camera-mic!
