Dump error when I open a saved proyect

Post by Raulin »

Hello:

I've tried to find the solution in the forum to fix this error but I haven't lucky.

My problem appears when I open a saved proyect. Only when I open one certain file. All run perfect when I open others saved files.

The error is: The program has encountered an unspecified erros and has stopped functioning.
Please contact Corel Technicial Support and send the dump file por analysis.
The name of this file is: C:/User/home/AppData/Local/Temp/vstudio_16.1...... DMP

Thankyou for your help, I've worked a lot of hours in this proyect and I need fix it

Hello and Welcome

Can we first establish exactly when the error occurs - is it when you try to open the .vsp - what is your procedure for doing that .

or does the project get as far as opening and putting your files in the timeline and then the error occurs

it rather sounds as though the troublesome project has a corrupt file in it so if we know exactly when the error occurs we may be able to find it.

Well it really looks as though you have a faulty video in that project somewhere - the only way I know to find it is by a long process of elimination - lets hope someone comes along with a quicker solution - but I would start by playing each video individually - not in your project - just go to the folder with all your original videos stored in and play each and every one to see if one falters.

Hi
I have to agree with Brian you seem to have a corrupt file.

Having watched your youtube videos I would suspect the audio clips. You appear to be using MP3 audio which can cause problems.

Using Windows Explorer locate the audio files and re-name them as a copy.
Now try opening the project on the desktop.
If it opens it will request a re-link to the audio files, cancel that, the audio will show as a black and white clip in the timeline.
Delete the audio clips, Save the project (Save As) giving it a new name.

Close and re-open the new project. Does that work.
If yes—convert the MP3 to Wav

The loading process also seems to pause a while at 14% when reading the Jpeg image.
If the above does not work try renaming the Image folder, then open the project, again the images should request a re-link.

I am afraid it is a matter of trial and error to identify the corrupt file?

The best of Corel Video Studio is the Forum. THANK YOUUUUU.

I can't believe it. I've got it. The currupt file was a video. I've taken the original file and put it on my folder's proyect and works!!!!

For more reviews first I've tried in my PC where I've got the dump error and didn't works. But then I've tried in my laptop and I could fix the corrupt file

I'm excited and I'm eternally grateful for your help. Thank you Lata and Brian, you are the best!!!!!

Hi

Thanks for the feedback and very glad you have found the problem

Corrupt files can be difficult to find so well done in doing that so quickly

One other observation, your library showed clips that have lost the link.
Clips used in the timeline and library are thumbnails/virtual clips linked to the files on the hard drive, delete or move those files and the clip in the timeline will show as black and white, requesting a re-link, the library clips show a yellow indicator

Take care when managing you files on the hard drive?
