Cropping an image

Post by stevelew »

I have done this before but I need to crop an image to 2X3 for a yearbook photo. When I go to the crop tool it doesn't stay at 2X3 but when I start cropping the picture large numbers appear in the crop box for width and height. I can't figure this out. Please help if you can. It has worked before.

What version of PSP, 2 x 3 pixels, cm, inches.
Take a breath, don't panic and slowly step by step explain what you are doing and what settings you are using.
Are you cropping and resizing.
I would set a pixel dimension of 400 x 600 and make sure Maintain Aspect ratio is ticked.
Drag the crop rectangle out or in til you have the right image.
Apply the crop.
Resize to your 2 x 3 (inches or cm )
Save your cropped and resized image.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

It sounds like you may have it defaulting to 'free form' crop mode. Go into the 'presets' tab that goes along with the crop tool, and 20cmx30cm is one of the options. If you can't find this, there should be a pair of dimensions in the crop tool bar, set those to any ratio of 2/3 and you should be good. You can then drag the corners to increase/decrease the cropped area, and it will maintain the 2/3 aspect ratio.
