problem regarding HDP

problem regarding HDP
I am using PSPX6
for example, there is a BMP which is 2.25mb
if I use "save it as a new file", and chose lossless HDP, then I get a file 537k
if I use "batch action" and save this file as lossless HDP, then I get a file 1.2mb
Please check why this happens. Thanks.

Re: problem regarding HDP
Hellside, have you tried setting them both to lossy with a compression of 10?
Maybe PSP isn't saving them lossless.

I cannot duplicate your findings using PSP X6hellside wrote:I am using PSPX6

Re: problem regarding HDP
I took a jpg saved it as a bmp file. Then went to X4 and did a Save as lossless and batch save lossless. Repeated with X6 . Results show no difference in either version.

Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867
Re: problem regarding HDP
after countless try, I think I find the cause.
the lossless is not really lossless, it is affected by the grey out option! transfering a bmp 2.25mb using the two lossless set
I get one file 1151k and the other.....18k(of course it looks totally lossy)
please try this method
curious though, the output of lossy1 is 1365k and lossy99 is 19k, both larger than their corresponding "lossless" version
but lossy10 result is smaller than its corresponding "lossless" version

Re: problem regarding HDP
Yes, it seems that the setting of the compression factor is also applied to the "lossless" method. So it doesn't matter if you use the lossless or lossy method, the important parameter is the compression factor setting.
Re: problem regarding HDP
is there a way to get a lossless HDP? since the lossy setting can't be 0.canuck wrote:Yes, it seems that the setting of the compression factor is also applied to the "lossless" method. and I also notice the transparency is not kept in HDP, though HDP support transparency.
Re: problem regarding HDP
I downloaded a plugin so photoshop support HDP
the real lossless HDP is in fact not much smaller than PNG...a 2.25mb BMP can be trans into a 1.30mb HDP
