Instagram Template

Post by Pete Marriott »

Hi guys,

I want to create videos for Instagram, but I'm having trouble making a template that outputs a video that I can upload from my Samsung S3 smartphone to Instagram. I'm currently using VideoStudio X5 and would like to get started with these videos as soon as possible. Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated.

you might get more meaningful help Pete if you told us exactly what properties you want to set in your output video - not everyone uses Instagram but may well know how to set the output you want

For some reason the videos are not playable. It has to be something in my settings that is wrong which is why I'm seeking help.

Hi

I know nothing about Instagram but a Google revealed that the device may use Mov H264, with the video limited to 15 seconds.
The process of getting the video to the device seemed quite involved, maybe I was viewing old instructions and things have improved.

Unfortunately Video Studio does not support Mov H264 believing it is not a widely used format, at least that was their reply.

So if Instagram does use Mov H264 it mat be worth while telling Corel, maybe visit Corel on Facebook.

I assume Instagram records video, is it possible for you to make a sample available for download so I can view the actual video properties?

Thanks, Here's a file I just posted to Instagram that I pulled directly off my phone: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qi5z1pzvsej3w ... 5B1%5D.mkv I noticed that writes a a file format I'm not familiar with mkv?

Unfortunately, .MKV (MatroshKa Video) is a format not supported by VS... High quality and popular, but I don't know why Corel has never added it to the corral... There may be licensing issues.

Thanks Ken. Looks like I may have to invest in a converter of some sort. Any suggestions?

There are any number of freeware programs out there which will do the job, but personally I use Freemake Video Converter http://www.freemake.com/free_video_converter/?from=app

Hi

Hopefully the AVS converter will do what you want.

I have had that software package for a few years and indeed the converter seems ok.
I have version 6, but just reinstalled from the AVS site and got the free upgrade to version 8

I can now read the MKV format, the converter shows the video as VP8.
Had to google that only to find it is owned by google?
