Tagging faces - Need explanations

Post by Wraiththe »

Hi :D ,
There is a need for explanations on the commands in tagging photos. I have been having a hard time learning about all this. Although the tutorials videos can be found with some serious searching, there are quite a few commands I do not really understand.

What does "exclude face" mean compared to Ignore Person? In Boolean terms? Where to the thumbnails go?

If I move an image file using another program like windows explorer, will the tags move with the file?

Are the tags placed in the file itself or is it only a function of a Corel database?

Is there a way to use Geo tags or tag multiple pictures with a geo tag when in face tagging mode?

It is my goal to tag all faces. I think sorting by people will make it easier find duplicate files on my computer. Then also break up scans with multiple photos in them, and again remove duplicates choosing the better quality pics. (by searching by person through files.)
Then come up with a better system for folders and sorting the photos...

However, it is unfortuntate that the software cannot recognize duplicate photos even if they are not EXACTLY the same but mostly.

Anyone know answers or suggestions.

Similar question - What does the Delete button do in the Ignored window? Is the selected face no longer available to be tagged? Even if I run Find People again? I assumed Ignore Person would behave like the other tagged people (so I dumped a lot of faces there). But it doesn't operate like the others (e.g., show you the entire photo for context, making it even harder to figure out who the person is), so I'd like to dump all the ignored faces back into Unnamed.

Apparently this makes a database exclusive to corel's app. Perhaps that is why they do not embellish on it? Or maybe they have, I have not kept up.

* I have been using Corel to tag the pictures in the actual filename so that if Corel gets corrupted, or I have to reinstall, I don't have to retag everything.

In the Manage area open the Navigation and info Pallets.
1) First I organized all the faces I could in the Collections tab (of the navigation pallet,) then
2) I highlighted all the photos for a name and in the "General" tab of the "Info" Palette - I added tags... such as the persons name.
You should see a place to add tags.

Now at least the tags are permanently in the file.

The tags do not seem to be if you just use Corel's face tagging feature. However you will not get at thumbnail preview with general tags.
