Chapters

Post by redcar56 »

Hi. I am operating Videostudio ProX5 and this is my first attempt.

I have transferred my film, edited, added music, added chapters with the little green marker, but when I create disc and try to use the chapter menus it finds them but will not create chapters, please help

Sorry martin - can you explain a little further - "try to use the chapter menus it finds them but will not create chapters"

did you not say you created the chapters in the timeline - so what exactly do you see in the Create disc module.

The film is filmed on a motorbike camera so has film is broken up into lots of segments and transferred to pc.
I do ,share, created disc,DVD,add/edit chapter, return, screen shows six chapters which is correct, return, shows one, next menu preview, but only shows one chapter. Film is long at 1hr50min but my old pinnacle studio made at that size just compressed more.
Totally lost

Hi Martin

When you return to the preview screen, the one showing the Gallery Tab and Edit tab.

Right hand side , What you see is the Main Menu aka Title menu
Immediately below the preview screen are the words, Display Current menu, (something like that) the drop down box will allow you to select and view the chapter menu.
And of course edit them.

Have you chosen a menu template which has the capability of 6 chapters - not all can - which menu template are you using for the chapter menu.

I thought the menu was chosen in the next step, I'm going to read the manual which I would think will be useless.

I thought Pinnacle Studio was difficult at first but this program seems very hard to master. At least the chapter creation in Pinnacle was straight forward

If you are in the Create disc module that is where you create the menu - I prefer to add chapters in there as well - I do not usually do it in the timeline.

Unless you choose a menu template fairly early on in the create disc module you cannot see how your main screen and chapters are going to work out.

I watched that, my film is made up of about 147 clips so I can't use auto chapter because max is 99, I thought placing the green pointer on my edit was the chapter marks, I will try again tomorrow

How many do you see in the drop-down list?

If you have created chapters then there will be two or more options when you drop down.
The top option being the Title Menu
Choosing the second option will open /view the Chapter menu.

Then choose a template from the Gallery, I would suggest using a Thumbnail type.
Edit Tab
Now choose Customise-change Frame to Layout and select the amount of chapters, max 8 thumbnails per menu.

The green triangles added to the timeline will show as chapter points. However in the past there has been issues using the timelines, so we would normally recommend adding chapters to the burner module, but now should work from the timelines.

Only one, the film saved name, no others that what's confusing me :), feeling very blonde at present.
