I have been trying to reinstall PSP X2 for several hours on a new PC.
1) I have tried everything. Uninstalling all old versions, reinstalling, using Corel's MSI Cleanup tool, switching Protexis on and off etc etc.
2) The copy of the downloaded program is legal and registered. Registration key is accepted and installation appears to take place, although last 10 seconds or so seem to hang before snapping to Finish window.
But on starting I get a popup saying the software is damaged or illegally modified.
It isn't.
Any ideas, anyone?

Re: Re-installing PSP X2 on Windows 7 Home Premium
Normally the error message you mentioned is an indication that Protexis is either off or set to manual, but since you've indicated you've turned it on I'm not sure what the issue could be unless it's set to manual instead of automatic.
PSPX9 | PSP2020 | PSP2021| PSP2022 | PSP2023 & PhotoMirage installed; PSPX | PSPX2 thru PSP2019 owned but not installed

Hi Kathy
Thanks for your prompt reply.
I also meant to add that I have been installing with the anti-virus programme disabled.I am now testing with Windows Firewall also disabled.
I have also found the original purchase order from 2009 and clicked on the link to download a completely clean version.
No luck so far but will let you know.
Alex

Re: Re-installing PSP X2 on Windows 7 Home Premium
Hi again all
Have tried everything and achieved nothing.
I know that fellow forum-users do not work for Corel, but just for context, here's my story.
I have used PSP ever since it was a JASC product. X2 is - for me - the best edition: stable, and uncluttered with bells and whistles which even if I had them I would probably never use. I have used X4 and X5 at work and find both to be less reliable; and some of the auto-fix algorithms are not as effective. Hence the desire to stick with X2.
I am deeply concerned that I have been unable to transfer my beloved X2 to my new computer. In the end, our of sheer frustration, I have purchased a new boxed copy of the X2 CD-ROM, which I trust will solve this issue.
If it does not, then I shall reluctantly make the long overdue move to Photoshop, simply on the basis that I cannot be bothered any more faffing around with third-party security software. I can absolutely see the point of checking against multiple installations, but my feeling is that Corel should continue to support users who invested in their products - even if those products appear antiquated to modern users. Come on, guys, X2 is only five years old.
Thanks to Kathy for her reply and all who have read this with sympathy
