I got my dvd for X6 today.
I uninstalled the trial version, and then installed the purchased one.
I keep several versions as I teach in an online forum, and need to be able to help students with older versions.
Well, I opened my X3, and all the file location settings were gone!
My saved workspaces had also evaporated.
Ok, so I can do a ton of backtracking to fix that. Not fun, just time consuming.
However, my X2 won't open at all. I get "DetectLanguage Failure (0). Exiting"
Of course, I forgot to do a system restore point before installing. *hits self on head* I know better!
And other restore points will wipe out programs I loaded a few days ago.
Off rant. Looking for help for X2.
Thanks so much. I am so very frustrated.

Never heard of these problems from installing x6
The Detect Language bug is fixable. Of course the instructions here on the forums is for version 13. So they will need fixing. Not having X2 on my computer I can't tell you what the changes are.

Yes, I read that.
I want to find out about the X2 instructions before I mess with anything.
Where would I ask about that?
I think perhaps because I use Geek Uninstaller that gets rid of vestiges of programs that are left that that somehow messed things up.
Don't know why it would, tho, as I was only uninstalling Ver X6.

Re: X6 Installation created X2/X3 Issues
I am wondering why you uninstalled the trial version of X6 if all was working well then.
I downloaded X6 trial and installed on XP Home desktop computer and also on a travelling Laptop wih Windows 7.
I then purchased X6 and in the notification email I read:
"Read this before you download…
If you are unlocking a trial, there is no need to download the software again. Simply launch your trial and
enter the serial number (SN) provided below. You will then have a fully functioning version!"
So if you also had the download version then you could have followed those steps and had all versions working correctly.
It would seem that when you uninstalled X6 that the process removed , changed some other files that may be used by a number of versions, including X2 and X3.
I have managed to avoid using any other uninstall programs as sometimes they can be a bit too good.
My suggestion would be to remove all versions of PSP using the windows Install/Uninstall section and then install X2 again , make sure it is working, then do the same with X3 (don't forget the updates for each).
Finally install your X6 and check again that all three are working.
I have PSP version 8, X2, X3, X4, X5, and X6 all working on XP and Win 7.

Edited to say:
Uninstalled, UNchecked the remove personal files option.
Did a system restore, re-installed, and all is good to go now.
Appreciate the input, tho.
