Background Colour problems in X6?

Post by babydoll »

I have 2 questions really, but my first one is more pressing. Every time I copy a picture from the internet, if is doesn't have a solid background, the picture automatically pasted into the program with a black background - and I can't figure out to make it paste white - I have obviously changed foreground/background colours, and I have changed something in the preferences that was black to white, but I can't seem to fix this, it's getting to be right pain, and whenever I open a new image, it's automatically black background not white (that's a little easier to cope with though than the pasting images problem). I'll show you what I mean with the attachments below, the one with the white background I had to prtsc and select the part I wanted, which appears to be the only way around this frustrating error, as when I try to copy and paste the image into PSP I get the image with the black background below. This is a huge problem as it means I literally have to print screen and then select every time I want to get a picture onto PSP which is time consuming and impractical.

My other issue is - what happened to all the picture tubes? There used to be LOADS of brilliant ones, it sees with every generation upgrade we lose some instead of gain, which is a bit regressive - I have tried downloading some online - but I can't find any good ones, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to import them into the program - I've tried everything!

Thanks - some quick responses would be much appreciated :D

No, you won't have to do a screen capture and cropping. There are other ways.

I don't know the exact reason, but it has to do with how the data is saved to the clipboard and read back down into PSP. For some reason the way the information is saved from the browser is different than similar programs are. Like you can copy a transparent area from Paint.NET into PSP and keep the transparency, even though you can't from the browser. You see the same problem with Photoshop and the GIMP. You don't, however, see this problem with smaller programs like Paint.NET.

I know of two workarounds. 1) Save the image to your harddrive before opening it. (right-click, save image as) You should be able to open the image just fine into PSP keeping the transparency.

2) Use a secondary program like Paint.net to past it into first, once the transparent image is inside this program you can copy and paste it into PSP without issue.
