Using text in titles

Post by Maige »

I'm still new to the program and I'm wondering, is there any way to just put normal text in your video, not use the flashy title text that I can only find? Thank you!

Yes of course

After you have clicked on the large 'T' on the right of the preview screen you will see the words "Double click here to add a title" in the preview screen - DO THAT - then you are in typing mode and may type anything at all - the font face, colour and size being set in the panel which will appear to the right of the preview screen above the timeline.

Click out of the text box in the preview window to be able to move it - click outside the preview window to leave title editing

You can also double left click in the T line down in the timelines below the preview screen -- where Brian has that title clip placed in his image. That will also bring up the "Double click here to add a title" message.

You can also adjust the animated titles provided as presets -- changing the text, of course, from the Lorem Ipsum it uses, but also the font itself, and the animations used.

I'm VERY new at this, but the first time I used videostudio I somehow accidentally changed the first rainbow lorem ipsum title (the second row, third title) and NOW IT'S GONE  and ALL RED

I even deleted ALL of the software and reinstalled it with ALOT of difficulty (had to delete all my .net frameworks, etc etc) only to see its STILL all red and no rainbow. How can I restore the original text style?

Any help will be greatly appreciated, as it was my favority style

I am not sure exactly which title you mean because second row third title may be different on each persons computer depending on what size they have selected for the title thumbnails. BUT - the rainbow effect has to be done by changing the colour of each letter individually - there is no "rainbow" setting.

put the title down into the title track and double click on the block in the timeline - this will open the options panel above the right hand end of the timeline - now double click on the title itself in the preview window - this will put you into the text edit mode.

Select individual letters in the title by clicking next to them and sliding over it - just as you would if selecting letters or text in any word processing document - now look to the right of the preview screen into the options panel and look for a small square coloured block - click on that to get to the options to change colours - repeat the process for each individual letter.

When complete slide the title block from the timeline up into the title library where it will be saved for future use.

Resetting the Library should set the title as installed.

Go to Settings - Library Manager - Reset Library

You may wish to Export First, just in-case you wish to return to the old library

Note:- Do not edit the text thumbnails in the library, first drag to the timeline, then edit.

Yes, that was the mistake I made the very first time I used x6...I didn't drag the thumbnail it to edit ...thanks!

The people at Corel told me to reinstall the software...that took me over a week of listening to them to check this and that...finally I figured out I had corrupt .net frames and when I finally fixed my computer, I somehow got my all red thumbnail back after re-install !!! :x

Wish I had come here first! :D

Hi - you can use any font which is in your Windows "Fonts" folder - so if you do not already have that in your Windows system then install it to your 'Fonts' folder.

It will then be selectable from the font drop down in the titling options box.
