Corel Paintshop Pro X crashes when clicking "erase tool"

I normally use paintshop pro 7 (because i know it and love it) I finally decided to try out my corel paintshop pro X that was given to me, installed and etc, open up any image, soon as I click the erase button, it says loading please wait sometimes it will crash immediately or it will go up to 16% within a few seconds and then crashes.

I have tried the repair to see if maybe something was wrong, I checked my direct X and updated that and still nothing. I'm at a lost here. Any advice, suggestions would be helpful.
