Corrupt Downloads, Is it my system or Uleads Servers?

Post by Ron P. »

This is getting real, real old...
I d/l the trial for MSP7 and DVD Movie Factory Disc Creator. When I try to install I get the nasty little error box:

This is an ongoing problem, and specific to Ulead's Website. I thought that maybe it is my machine. However I intentionally d/l and installed other software with no problems.

So what's up Ulead? You need to fire your webmaster and get a competent one, AND tighten up on the programmers.... PLEASE....

Sorry for the little rant, but come on, I don't want to think that Ulead is a "fly by night" company, with wanna be developers...

Also I have tried d/l and installing without firewall, antivirus you name it active. No change.

What could I be doing wrong that is causing this..

I believe the Ulead FTP server is causing some undetermined problems. Ulead are aware of this and I understand that they are taking action to correct it, hopefully very soon.

I understand they've moving their offices into nicer digs, so some problems are to be expected during the move. Hopefully they'll correct it soon.

Ok, thanks for your replies...

Finally managed to get a clean file and installed. Only took 7 or so downloads. Glad I have DSL..

sometimes the self-extracting executable f#@!s up during the d/l process. do u have winrar installed? if that happens again, try right clicking on the downloaded file and selecting 'extract here' embedded into the windows shell. this will extract the files within the self-extracting .exe and after extraction you should have either a setup.exe or autorun.exe. run either of these to install the software. after installation, burn the extracted files to cd and you have yourself a fully functional self bootable install disc. hope this helps. 8)

Try any download tool such as CuteFTP or GetRight, they will help you to get better download quality.

You can use Google to find CuteFTP/GetRight.

Hope this helps.

Well I checked out both. I'm familiar with CuteFTP. However I already have an FTP program, WS_FTP lite. I've tried using it to connect to Ulead's FTP however can not. Right now VS9 is doing ok (fingers are crossed) and hope it lasts for awhile.

I have the back-up cd for VS9. In fact I have 2 back-up cd's. The first one I have never been able to use. However strangely the other day VS9 crashed where I couldn't type in a title and had to reinstall. My computer kept telling me the file on the cd was corrupt. I do have the latested Windows Installer, installed. I uninstalled it and was able to install VS9 from the cd. However I had to re-install the installer before VS9 would work. This is certainly the weirdest behavior I've seen for a program...

Thanks for your help :)
