folders vanish after restart of paintshop pro x6 ultimate

Post by averlon »

Hi,
I have received my new product paintshop pro x6 ultimate and installed it on a windows 8 64bit os.

When starting I can add folders to search.

When I quit and start paintshop pro again, the folder is not there anymore and I have to add it again.

Can anyone help me how this could be avoided.

Thanks
Regards

I need more information - what do you do "When starting" and what do you mean by "search"? Which mode are you in (Manage, Edit), are you using navigator or starting from the menu? There are so many views in PSP that it is impossible to know what you are doing and trying to do unless you provide the step-by-step process you are using.

And maybe a screen shot or two.

It should be noted that if you're using the "Browse" tab in the navigator to search for your folder that will not be maintained. The only folders that are maintained are those placed inside the collections tab.

Hi,
first of all, I do have Germany GUI.

I am in "manage"
I have switched on the navigation pane.

In navigation I see the tab
- collections and
- computer

Within collections I see the list:
- intelligent collections and
- folders
- +additional folders to search
- pictures

Pictures seems to be the "Pictures" folder of my Windows Profile.

When I click on "additional folders to search" I can add a location to show all pictures in.

When done, the pictures (thumgnails) + the folder structure of this location is listed.

This folder I added is gone after restart.
I every time have to add the folder again.

Either I do not understand how it works or this could be improved or it is a bug.

Karl-Heinz:

To avoid misunderstanding in translation, I've included an illustration below. I use Windows 7.

The first section shows the Manage mode with the Collections selected as it would appear the first time PSP is opened. I won't bother with the Computer selection because I think that is self-evident.

Select "Browse more folders" and a selection box appears as shown in section 2. In this case I have selected a folder named 2012 from My Pictures. There are many sub-folders in this one. After selecting click OK.

Section 3 shows the result after repeating Browse more folders three more times and in the illustration Edit is selected, thumbnails on the right. I have had no problems with these folders disappearing. PSP opens very quickly and the last folder selected is selected when it opens. I like using Collections because I avoid the seldom used folders appearing when I'm looking for something specific. I hope this helps.

hi,
fine you described this including some screenshot.
This is exactly the way I am doing it.
I would like to use collections.

But after restart they are gone. So they are not persistent in my installation. Why ever.

And this does not make fun at all!

All I can think of then, is to try resetting PSP. Hold the shift key as you open the program. You may have to do it twice (open, close, try again) if you do not get a message asking if you want to reset. This method has solved a number of problems for me.

soory to say: but no success.

I started with shift and confirmed to reset to standard.

I added a folder to the collection, terminated and started again: gone!
