In the older versions adjusting the settings to negative numbers was as easy as highliting the text, clicking on the lead button and entering -0.075
Now, I can't adjust to negative line spacing.
Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?
Thanks!

It works the same in X6:

Are you sure your text lines are on the same text layer? In the Options bar for the text tool, ensure you've highlighted the entire leading number before entering "-0.275", for example.

Re: Adjusting the "LEADING" settings
Thank you for your response.
Yes, I am quite sure that my text is all highlited.
When I go in to put the negative sign in I get "kicked out" (for lack of a better word) of the leading box.

Re: Adjusting the "LEADING" settings
the leading box is working fine for me; whether I scroll the numbers or type them in manually. So I can't imagine why it won't for you.

Re: Adjusting the "LEADING" settings
In X4, I am unable to type in a negative number, only positive numbers, but the sliders work fine. Once I have a negative number entered, I can type in numbers to the right of the decimal if I do it very carefully. If I'm not careful, what I type in the leading box ends up as part of my text. That's very strange. It happened to me twice while trying it just now.

Re: Adjusting the "LEADING" settings
X3 and x4 has major problems with lost focus. They wanted the UI to be responsive, I imagine, and so they placed a timer that said "wait so long after the last edit, then update the rendered text." Which is fine, but what would happen is if you typed too slowly, hunting for the next number or not sure what value to try or just not being as fast as the program wanted you to be, it would update the text and then refocus on the text.
Now that the text has focus anything you type will edit the text. It was very annoying and was one of the smaller edits made to X5 that made it loveable.
In this way the text tool has actually regained some of its usefulness that it had in X2 and earlier versions. When they moved to on-canvas editing they broke a lof of the useful UI habits. But it's making a small gradual come-back. Though many still aren't happy with it.

Re: Adjusting the "LEADING" settings
In X6
Highlight your lines of text,
Click the leading box to make that the default operation.
Hold the control key down and then the down arrow key and scroll to your desired negative amount.
or Hold the control key down and roll your mouse wheel.
This works in all the X versions back to at least X2.
