Need some X4 toolbar tips

Post by edwinn »

Back now in X4 (PSP14) which is productive.

I need to add or restore to the toolbar, the View TOOLBARS and VIEW PALETTES pull-downs so these features can be turned on/off with just a click or two.

Here is a typical workspace where I added a SELECTION toolbar third row of toolbars. This is the one that especially needs to be turned on/off to save overall space.

Also.. how does one ADD a separator between tool buttons? I'll search around for that one in the mean time.

To add a separator, right-click on the icon just to the right of where you want the spacer to appear. Choose "Start Group" from the menu that appears.

I could be wrong but I don't think that there's any way to add a button that will toggle custom toolbars on and off. However, I wonder if it's possible to create a bound script that will do that for you.

Not sure I understand your question correctly but: if Customize is active, you can click on View in the top menu instead of in the Customize dialog, hold down the Ctrl key and drag 'toolbars' or 'palettes' to another bar. You'll see a little '+' beside the arrow to show that you're copying, not moving the option.
This will give you a button with the text 'toolbars' or whatever so you'd need only two clicks instead of three to toggle toolbars. I don't know if or how you can change that to an icon.
If that wasn't the question, disregard :)

Thanks.. that's exactly what I wanted to do.. add the TOOL and PALETTE pull-down switches to a Tool Bar. :D

Here they are in the upper RIGHT corner (yellow Arrow) with Palettes above Toolbars. Here's the workspace with everything lit-up.

Most if not all features can be turned on/off with a click or two. Very productive! 8)
