DVD menus – preview yes – when DVD played no

Post by Brucewh »

Using VS Pro X6, I set out to create a double layer DVD containing three video files. All three were created separately using X6, and all of them have chapter markers. I then created and edited menus so that they could each be selected individually from the top level menu, and after one of them was selected, individual chapters could be selected from its exceeding menu. When I use Preview in the Edit step, the menus look and act just as I want them to.

In the Share step, rather than burn directly from VS, I had it create an .iso file, to make it easier to produce multiple copies. But the resulting DVD only plays video #1. There is no menu when I put the DVD in, and the "Disk Menu" button on the DVD player remote takes me to the player's media selection menu instead of the DVD's top menu.

Is there some limitation to .iso that eliminates the menus I worked so hard to craft? Do I have to burn the disk directly from VS X6 in order to create a disk that has menus?

Hi

There is no limitations to burning an iso file.
The iso file is a disc image containing the exact files as a disc.

Use VLC Media Player to play the iso before burning the disc.

If there is a problem then its with the program not the iso.

If you burn a disc instead of the iso I think you will have the same issues.
And another coaster.

Make sure it plays ok using VLC before burning a disc.

I have to say I tried dual layer discs but had no luck so returned to using standard single layer discs. How long are the movies.?
